Jujutsu Kaisen’s Live Action Adaptation is Coming to America

The success of Netflix’s live-action adaptation of One Piece has anime fans curious about which other series might get similar treatment. Several projects are already in development, including live-action versions of Mobile Suit Gundam, Naruto, My Hero Academia, and One-Punch Man. While a live-action TV show or movie for Jujutsu Kaisen hasn’t been announced yet, a successful stage play adaptation has been running in Japan for a while. Now, later this year, that stage play is expanding beyond Japan.

New York City’s annual Japan Parade & Street Fair, a celebration of Japanese and American culture, is returning for its fifth year. This year’s event will include a special performance of the popular stage play, Jujutsu Kaisen The Stage, marking its first appearance in the West. Several actors from the live-action production will be in New York for the event, which will be hosted by manga artist Acky Bright. The performance will focus on the ‘Hidden Inventory’ arc, a beloved storyline from Jujutsu Kaisen that explores the backstories of Gojo and Geto. You can catch this unique show in New York City on Saturday, May 9th.

Jujutsu Kaisen’s Past And Future

If you haven’t watched the Hidden Inventory Arc of Jujutsu Kaisen, it begins with a hopeful effort by former friends Geto and Gojo to save Riko Amanai’s life. Sadly, despite being incredibly powerful sorcerers, they couldn’t save her because of Toji Fushiguro. Although Toji was defeated, the devastating loss deeply damaged their friendship, marking a turning point in their relationship.

The latest season of Jujutsu Kaisen continues to deal with the aftermath of the Hidden Inventory arc, causing problems for students and alumni of Jujutsu Tech. Suguru Geto, also known as Kenjaku, has started a deadly competition called the Culling Game, hoping to force humanity to evolve, while Gojo is still imprisoned. With Yuji and his friends now caught in this fight for survival, the situation is becoming increasingly dangerous for everyone involved in the supernatural world.

While the exact number of episodes for Jujutsu Kaisen season three hasn’t been announced, the anime is likely to continue as long as it follows the original manga. Many fans believe a fourth season will be the end of the main story, though the sequel series expands the world beyond that. The recent Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo manga has finished, and if it’s adapted into anime, it could add at least one more season to the series.
