Please be aware that this article contains spoilers from the Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo manga! The Jujutsu Kaisen manga by Gege Akutami ended in September 2024, with a final epilogue released in December of that year. The epilogue introduced Yuta Okkotsu’s grandchildren, but kept details about their family history limited. Fans had long suspected Yuta married Maki Zenin, but this wasn’t officially confirmed until a sequel manga began in September 2025. Illustrated by Yuji Iwasaki, the sequel opens with Yuta’s funeral, revealing he lost his desire to connect with others after Maki’s death. While Yuka was close to her grandfather, Yuta, her brother Tsurugi was raised by Maki. The siblings never talk about their parents, and their grandfathers were the most important family figures in their lives.
Many fans think the woman who took Yuka’s ring in the first chapter is the siblings’ mother, but the series hasn’t confirmed this yet. Modulo is still following the siblings as they train to become sorcerers in high school. As the story nears its end, it’s a good time for answers, especially regarding long-standing mysteries. For weeks, the identity of a missing child of the couple was a key question. Chapter 17 finally introduces this child and suggests why they were gone for so long.
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Finally Answers a Major Question About Yuta and Maki’s Son

This manga chapter opens with an additional illustration and then a flashback where Tsurugi remembers his father. Tsurugi’s father disappeared shortly after his sister, Yuka, was born, and Tsurugi, who was just a baby at the time, has no memories of him. He does recall hearing from a maid that his father was seen with a strange man before he vanished. The disappearance of Yuta’s son is shrouded in mystery, and this flashback hints that it’s all linked to Yuji Itadori. We also finally see the mother of the siblings, and she looks just like the woman who appeared in the very first chapter.
Although the character’s name isn’t revealed in the main story, it actually appears in a bonus panel within the first volume of the manga. This first volume launched on January 5th, 2026, and quickly became the best-selling book on Amazon Japan’s website. Currently, there’s no news on when an English version will be available. The volume itself contains seven chapters, plus extra artwork and gifts for fans, all within a total of 212 pages.
Similar to other manga releases, this volume includes extra details that international fans won’t have access to for several months, as it takes time for it to be published worldwide. However, some information was shared early on social media, specifically by accounts like @Go_Jover on X. Fans discovered that Yuta and Maki’s son is named Iori, and his wife is named Mifuyu.
