Jujutsu Kaisen’s Sequel May Have Confirmed Its First Major Death

Please be aware that this article contains spoilers for the Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo manga! Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, a sequel series by Gege Akutami, is nearing its conclusion, just months after its exciting launch in September 2025. Originally planned as a short sequel lasting around six months and spanning no more than three volumes in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, Modulo expands on the story of Yuta Okkotsu’s grandchildren, who were first introduced in the epilogue of the original manga. The series follows Yuka and Tsurugi Okkotsu as they navigate high school and work as Jujutsu sorcerers, finding themselves caught in the middle of a crisis after peace negotiations with an alien race called the Simurians fall apart.

The Simurians are imposing their beliefs on the sorcerers, but Yuka steps up to defend Earth against Dabura. Knowing she has only three months to live due to illness, she resolves to sacrifice herself to protect her people from the Simurians. Meanwhile, her brother Tsurugi discovers her fate and desperately tries to prevent her premature death. He challenges Maru to a duel, hoping to force the Simurians to leave the planet. The recent Chapter 21 concluded with a devastating battle, strongly suggesting Tsurugi may have died.

Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo May Have Killed Off Tsurugi in

From the start of the fight between Tsurugi and Maru, it was obvious Maru was the stronger fighter. Both reluctantly battled, knowing they each had important things to defend. Tsurugi quickly lost the first round, but Rika helped him by using the ring he carried. She also had Maki’s Soul Split Katana, a very powerful and dangerous weapon. Using powers inherited from his grandfather, Tsurugi was able to quickly gain the upper hand.

In Chapter 21, Tsurugi made a surprising decision: he allowed Maru to strike him, even though he could have won the fight. He believed that winning wouldn’t have been the right outcome. Throughout the battle, Tsurugi felt a sense of guilt, as if he was doing something he shouldn’t. Severely injured, he lost consciousness in Maru’s arms, and his future remains uncertain. The chapter ends with a poignant scene of Maru crying beside Tsurugi’s unconscious form.

Honestly, I’m really worried about Tsurugi! Because Maru didn’t get him help right away, there’s a chance he didn’t make it, but we just don’t know for sure until the manga tells us. And it’s not just Tsurugi – we still have no idea what happened to Cross after he was shot weeks ago! Meanwhile, Yuka’s been missing ever since she went into hiding, while Dabura is still battling Mahoraga. It feels like we’re getting close to the end of the series, and I have a feeling Yuji is going to be key in determining how everything plays out in the Jujutsu world.
