Jujutsu Kaisen’s Sequel Reveals First Look at Yuji’s Future (& He’s Stronger Than Ever)

The new *Jujutsu Kaisen* series gives fans their first glimpse of what’s next for Yuji Itadori, showing he’s become incredibly powerful. *Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo* began appearing in *Weekly Shonen Jump* magazine this summer, and it was a surprise to learn it’s actually a sequel to Gege Akutami’s popular *Jujutsu Kaisen* manga, which concluded last year. What’s even more surprising is that the story takes place almost 80 years after the original series, following a new group of sorcerers.

Because *Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo* is set some time after the original series, we haven’t seen much of the characters fans already know and love. While the first season concluded happily, many viewers were eager to see Yuji and his friends back in action. The latest chapter of the sequel finally delivers, giving fans a first look at how Yuji has grown as a fighter.

Jujutsu Kaisen Sequel Shares First Look at Yuji’s Future

Chapter 6 of *Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo* focuses on Yuta and Maki’s grandchildren, who are now working with Maru, an alien with cursed energy. Maru and their team are curious to see what humans are capable of. The story takes place far in the future, meaning the original characters have all passed away. While it’s unlikely the original group will return – as sorcerers typically don’t live to old age – Yuji’s fate is still uncertain, leaving the possibility open for his return.

As previously shown in *Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo*, sorcerers still consider those who defeated Sukuna to be legendary figures. However, it’s now clear that Yuji Itadori personally influenced many sorcerers as well. The current storyline, featuring an elderly antagonist who has been infiltrating a school for years, includes a flashback where he remembers a devastating defeat. This flashback offers fans a brief glimpse into Yuji’s life after Sukuna was finally defeated.

What Does This Actually Mean for Yuji’s Future?

The new series, *Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo*, might show us a younger version of Yuji, perhaps as part of a past story. However, it seems more likely we’ll see him as a figure from legend. The main story has moved past Yuji’s time, and while the sequel connects to the original series, *Jujutsu Kaisen* always focused on the fleeting nature of human life. Yuji wished for a meaningful end, and he may have gotten it.

Perhaps it would be a fitting end to Yuji’s story if, even after defeating Sukuna, he continued to battle Cursed Spirits and rogue sorcerers as the last, most powerful fighter. He could become a legend, just like Satoru Gojo and Yuta Okkotsu, ultimately proving himself to be the strongest sorcerer of his generation.
