Fans have been eagerly waiting for over two years, and the anime adaptation of Kagurabachi is finally confirmed! As a popular series in Shonen Jump, an anime was expected, but the official announcement still generated a lot of excitement. The studio behind the anime, Cypic (formerly CygamesPictures), recently rebranded and shared that Kagurabachi will debut next year as part of their Summer 2026 lineup. They’re also producing another anime, The World Is Dancing, which will be released on July 2nd, 2026. Crunchyroll announced the news and revealed five new cast members in the trailer. The initial announcement came in January, and more details are expected as the release date approaches. While the anime will air on Tokyo MX, fans around the world are still waiting to find out where they can stream it.
What Is The World Is Dancing About?
This anime is adapted from a popular manga created by Kazuto Mihara. The manga ran in Kodansha’s Morning magazine from March 2021 to October 2022, totaling 60 chapters. These chapters have been collected into six volumes, which can be purchased on Kodansha’s website. The story takes place in 14th-century Japan and centers around Oniyasha, a 12-year-old boy raised in a traveling theater group, learning acting and dance.
This story takes place during a time of political unrest in Japan, when rival courts were constantly battling for power. It centers on a young boy struggling to find meaning in his lessons and his place in the world. He questions the purpose of traditions, like dancing, and his life changes unexpectedly after a surprising meeting. This fictionalized tale is inspired by the life of Zeami Motokiyo, known in his youth as Oniyasha. Zeami was a pivotal figure in Japanese culture, credited with transforming the performing arts and establishing Noh theater, which remains the oldest continuously performed theater art in the world. The story depicts his formative years during a dynamic and challenging period in Japanese history.
With only 60 chapters in the manga and the trailer showing the main character as an adult, it seems the anime will likely be completed in a single season. We can expect the episode list to be announced after the anime begins airing. While the streaming service hasn’t been confirmed, Crunchyroll is the most probable platform to get the rights.
