Keke Palmer Mourns Death of Ex-Boyfriend in Heartbreaking Tribute

Keke Palmer is remembering one of her first loves.

Keke Palmer, known for her role in Nope, publicly mourned the loss of her former boyfriend, Brandon, who passed away on May 23. His sister shared that he died from complications related to sickle cell anemia.

“I found out last night,” Keke began in her May 28 Instagram post. “I think I was in shock.”

The woman, now 32, remembered meeting Brandon on MySpace. A friend had introduced her to the site, specifically mentioning an attractive guy who often picked up his younger brother from school.

It was there that they formed a virtual bond. 

Keke went on to explain that they became friends and started writing letters to each other. Eventually, she told her parents she had feelings for him and pleaded with them to let them finally meet.

Actress Carrie Henn, known for her role in The ‘Burbs, reminisced about a special time with her childhood friend Brandon. She remembered sharing her first kiss with him in his backyard, attending bible school together, going to the movies, and enjoying all the parties Brandon’s mom used to throw. Henn shares a three-year-old son, Leodis, with her ex-husband, Darius Jackson.

“I just can’t believe he’s gone,” Keke said, heartbroken. “It’s so unfair that sickle cell disease took him from us. I kept meaning to visit Brandon, to check in and see how he was doing, but I never did. I really regret not getting one last chance to see him.”

The host of Baby, This is Keke Palmer also posted a photo of herself and Brandon from her sixteenth birthday party. She remembered that even though he was always shy, he still managed to stand out and get a lot of attention.

She expressed her sorrow, saying she misses her friend and is praying for their family. She was heartbroken realizing the extent of their loss, and thanked her friend for being a supportive presence during a difficult time. She wished them peace.

Keke shared that she had finally opened up about her struggles with happiness, saying, ‘I’m proud of myself for finally telling people how difficult it’s been.’ She also expressed gratitude, saying, ‘Thank you for allowing me to share my sadness with you.’

The award-winning actress encouraged her fans to express their love to others, explaining that you can’t always be sure you’ll have another opportunity to do so.
