Kelly Clarkson is healing her family piece by piece.
Kelly Clarkson recently updated her fans after the passing of her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, who was the father of her two children, River, 11, and Remington, 9. He died in August.
During a recent appearance on the Kelly Clarkson Show’s YouTube channel, she talked about her children, ages 9 and 11. She described them as being at a sweet age – old enough to be independent with things like using the bathroom, but still young enough to enjoy cuddling and being close.
We’ve been going through a tough time as a family lately, so I’ve been letting my children sleep in my bed with me more often.
Kelly’s bedroom is full of her children’s things, but she loves it that way.
She explained it’s just her, her two kids, and her two dogs at home. It’s busy, but she cherishes the sweet conversations they all have together, making that time of day her favorite.
Brandon Blackstock, Kelly Clarkson’s ex-husband from 2013 to 2020, died on August 7th at the age of 48 after a three-year fight with cancer. The day before, Kelly Clarkson announced she was pausing her Las Vegas shows to be there for her children during their father’s illness.
She explained on Instagram that she usually keeps her personal life private, but her children’s father has been sick this past year, and she needs to focus on supporting them right now. She apologized to those who had purchased tickets to her shows and expressed her gratitude for their understanding.

After the talent manager passed away, many people who knew him spoke about the impact he had on their lives. This included his two older children, Savannah, 23, and Seth, 18, from his marriage to Melissa Ashworth.
In an Instagram post on August 8th, Seth shared a heartfelt message about his father, describing him as a father, son, brother, and, most importantly, his best friend. He acknowledged that he’ll now have to navigate life without his father’s physical presence, but finds comfort in knowing his father will be watching over him. Seth expressed that no one could ever compare to the man his father was, and he wouldn’t want anyone else to have been his dad.
Savannah explained that she grew closer to her father through their shared religious beliefs during his final days.
She shared on Instagram that her loved one had always been a man of faith, but deepened his connection with God six months ago, becoming eager to learn more. She said he had blessed her life in countless ways, but the greatest blessing came twelve days prior: the peace of knowing he was now in Heaven with God.
