You don’t have to sell Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos on family night.
Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos were thrilled to support their 23-year-old son, Joaquin Consuelos, as he made his first appearance on Broadway. He starred in a new production of Arthur Miller’s classic play, Death of a Salesman, which premiered on April 9th.
It was a big moment for the Consuelos-Ripa family. Joaquin hadn’t been at a major public event with them since the unveiling of Kelly’s Hollywood Walk of Fame star back in 2015, as he was still in school at the time.
Kelly and Mark didn’t just watch the show at the Winter Garden Theatre in New York City—they were also invited to the after-party at Katz’s Delicatessen.
The couple, dressed in black, posed for a cheerful photo with their son, Michael Consuelos, 28, and daughter, Lola Consuelos, 24. They were with Joaquin, who portrays a younger version of Christopher Abbott’s character, Biff, in the show.
Since we last saw him with his family publicly, Joaquin finished both high school and college. He recently graduated from the University of Michigan’s School of Music, Theatre & Dance and has already started his acting career with a part in the Hulu pilot, Foster Dade.

Joaquin didn’t want his parents to see any trailers for Death of a Salesman. Kelly mentioned he specifically asked her to wait until the play officially opened before going to see it.
She explained on her talk show that she honored his request. Because she couldn’t attend the first preview, she decided to leave town instead.

Despite Joaquin’s advice, Mark managed to get into the show at the last minute by sneaking in with a ticket.
“I was watching him with a smile on my face,” the Riverdale actor recalled, “and cried.”
Mark recalled that during the first bow at the end of the performance, the woman sitting beside him exclaimed, ‘Congratulations, your son was fantastic!’

In March 2022, Kelly took a short vacation to Detroit to attend the Division 1 Wrestling Championships and cheer on the Wolverines.
Even though Joaquin was only a first-year student and didn’t compete in wrestling this time, Kelly admitted on a live broadcast after returning that watching the young athletes compete was incredibly stressful and aged her significantly.

After having to postpone their trip in 2020 due to the pandemic, the family was finally able to visit Greece and Italy in June 2021.
Kelly said that what started as a graduation trip for her oldest son and niece ended up being a celebration for the newest members of the family, too, because of how long it was delayed.

Kelly loved a family photo taken during their trip to the Mediterranean so much that she used it for their 2021 holiday card.

To celebrate his mom’s 51st birthday in 2021, Michael shared a heartwarming old photo of the two of them. He wrote a sweet message wishing her a wonderful day, calling her a strong and inspiring person. He also jokingly reminded her that when he compares her to a T. Rex, it’s meant as a compliment – something she should be used to by now!

In August 2020, Kelly posted a fantastic recreation of a family photo from 2003 on Instagram. She managed to perfectly recreate the original with her youngest son, Joaquin, on her lap and her older children, Michael and Lola, posed just right – even joking that things might look a little bigger now!

In May 2020, Kelly and Mark celebrated their oldest son, Michael’s, college graduation. Because of the coronavirus pandemic, the ceremony was held virtually. Kelly shared her joy on Instagram, writing about Michael, “And just like that, you graduated! The happiness and pride you’ve brought our family are beyond words. I love you so much.”

Kelly shared a nostalgic Instagram post comparing photos of her kids from 2011 to 2019, jokingly noting how much they’ve grown – and how much smaller the walls seem now! She captioned the post, “The walls have become smaller.”

“The Graduate #2019,” Kelly wrote on Instagram celebrating Lola’s final days of high school.

Kelly receiving her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2015 was an all-hands-on-deck event.
