Kelsea Ballerini is loving this chapter of life like she means it.

The singer of “Penthouse,” who recently ended her relationship with Chase Stokes in February, shared what her life is like now, a little over a month after moving to New York City.

Kelsea recently shared on Today that she’s enjoying this period of her life. She’s focusing on self-connection and appreciates the break from touring.

She explained that this was her first experience being in a new place and building new friendships without being on tour. She added that she hadn’t had the opportunity to focus on her own well-being for some time.

She’s hinted that this current phase of her career is coming to a close. The 32-year-old has also explained that her relocation from Nashville to New York City is temporary.

Kelsea recently told TopMob News that she isn’t moving permanently. She’s only staying there for the summer and is really enjoying her time there.

She shared that she’s really enjoyed focusing on personal hobbies and activities while living in New York City.

“I’m just discovering,” Kelsea said. “It’s so fun.”

“I feel this resurgence of energy,” she added. “It’s been really nice, and I’m really excited.”

The singer of “Peter Pan” is looking forward to enjoying her favorite food – pasta – while she’s in the city.

Honestly, I’m on a total quest for the perfect spicy rigatoni. It’s just… deeply personal for me. It feels like a piece of my heritage, and I have to find the absolute best version out there. It’s a mission, really!

The singer is starting a new and exciting phase of her life following her split from Chase, whom she dated for three years. They broke up last September, briefly reconciled in December, and then officially ended their relationship in February.

Kelsea Ballerini shared a message on Instagram in February reflecting on a challenging year. She said the year forced people to let go of old burdens, brought unexpected closures, and delivered difficult lessons that tested their limits. Despite everything, she celebrated resilience, noting that those who went through it emerged wiser, stronger, and with a clearer understanding of themselves and their worth.

On December 1st, 2022, around 1:30 a.m., Kelsea Ballerini sent a direct message to Chase Stokes. She was out with friends at a bar and had been drinking at the time.

They finally met in person on January 7, 2023, and she now considers that day their anniversary.

Kelsea remembered that he jumped out of his Bronco without saying a word, then immediately grabbed her face, kissed her, and pulled back to say, ‘Thank God you’re real,’ as she shared on the Call Her Daddy podcast in November 2023.

Oh my gosh, you guys, I was losing it when Kelsea posted that TikTok! It was from January 7th, 2023 – she was getting ready for her first date with him! She shared it back in August and it was just the sweetest little throwback, seeing how excited she was. I’ve rewatched it like a million times, honestly!

She shared a video with the caption, “Happy weekend! This is a video I sent to my best friend before my first date with Chase.”

Kelsea Ballerini showcased her outfit in a video set to her song “How Do I Do This,” which explores the feelings of going on a first date after a long time.

She turned to show off her hairstyle—half up and half down—and explained, ‘I’m using this hair clip to try and look trendy.’

She kept talking to a friend, telling them, “He’s coming to get me, and we’re going to get sushi. I’ll call you tomorrow with all the details.”

She took a deep breath, raised a finger, and with newfound confidence, told herself, “I can do this. I can do this.”

After a little playful movement, she explained that a date is simply a casual outing where you share a meal and conversation about your lives.

The couple publicly confirmed their relationship by appearing together as a couple at the CMT Music Awards in Texas.

A few days later, the pair went to the opening night party for the Broadway show Shucked at Capitale in New York City.

Chase joined Kelsea on a trip to her hometown of Knoxville, Tenn.

The two attended Armani Beauty’s ACQUA DI GIO and Gen A celebration in Malibu, Calif.

Kelsea was surprised and delighted when Chase unexpectedly showed up to greet her at the airport. Both of them shared sweet videos and photos of their reunion online.

The couple only had eyes for one another at a Venice Film Festival event.

While in NYC to perform on TODAY, the singer scheduled in a date night with her No. 1 fan.

Kelsea shared on the show that she really appreciates Chase’s support and understanding, adding that he’s a genuinely kind person.

To celebrate Kelsea’s 30th birthday on September 12, 2023, Chase shared a collection of photos and videos of the Grammy-nominated singer.

The singer shared with Entertainment Tonight at the 2026 Grammys that despite the breakup, her partner had been with her both before and will be during the event. She expressed her continued belief in love, saying, ‘I love love and I believe in it.’
