All’s not fair for Kim Kardashian.
The reality TV star was upset to discover she couldn’t buy a Bible that her late father, Robert Kardashian Sr., had originally given to his friend, O.J. Simpson.
She was upset that her $15,000 offer to buy the book became public, and even more disappointed when the person handling O.J.’s estate turned it down. The estate was auctioning off the book after his death earlier in 2024.
On the November 13th episode of The Kardashians, Kim said she would have tried to negotiate. She admitted she briefly believed the best in people, which maybe wasn’t realistic.
The actress from All’s Fair said she would have happily paid as much as $30,000 for the item. It included a handwritten note from Robert to O.J. that said, in part, “God has a definite plan for your life. You are his child and he will use you again.”
Kim described the Bible as “really special,” adding that her sister, Khloé Kardashian, had expressed a desire to have it back in the family. Kim explained she decided to give it to Khloé for her birthday.
The bible was sold at auction in March for $80,276, including all fees. The buyer has remained anonymous.
Okay, so about why Kim K’s offer for O.J.’s Bible was turned down… it’s just SO frustrating! Apparently, the guy in charge of O.J.’s stuff, Malcolm LaVergn, said he literally had to reject it. He was legally bound by the court to sell the Bible at auction, so his hands were tied! It’s not like he wanted to say no to Kim, he just… couldn’t. Ugh, the rules!
He explained to People magazine that it didn’t make sense to spend $15,000 in legal fees just to sell something to Kim for $15,000. He called it a pointless transaction – a ‘zero-sum game’ and a poor way to do business.
