King Juan Carlos of Spain Addresses Princess Diana Affair Rumors

The former King of Spain is clearing up those Princess Diana rumors.

Almost thirty years after Princess Diana’s death, King Juan Carlos has publicly stated that he did not have an affair with her during the 1980s.

According to an excerpt from his upcoming memoir, Reconciliation, the former monarch, age 87, portrays Princess Diana as being reserved and withdrawn, only becoming more animated when photographers were around. This information was published in The Telegraph on October 29th.

During the summers of 1986 and 1988, King Juan Carlos of Spain hosted Diana, Prince Charles, and their sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, at the royal family’s summer residence in Palma de Mallorca. At the time, Charles was having a long-term affair with Camilla (now Queen Camilla), and King Juan Carlos was also rumored to have been involved with other women. This led to speculation and rumors about a possible romantic connection between Diana and Juan Carlos.

According to Andrew Morton’s book, Ladies of Spain, Princess Diana privately described the Spanish king – who later abdicated in 2014 due to several scandals – as being “a little too attentive” following a trip to Mallorca. She never publicly commented on rumors about their relationship.

Honestly, just hearing her talk about it sends shivers down my spine. She confided in some friends that being alone with Juan Carlos was really unsettling, even though she insisted nothing inappropriate ever happened. And the thing that really stuck with me? Apparently, she privately described him as… well, let’s just say he had a very strong appetite for, um, everything. It’s just… ugh. I feel so protective of her just knowing that was her experience.

Throughout her marriage to Charles, Diana was often the subject of rumors about affairs, in addition to speculation about a relationship with Juan Carlos. Though she usually denied these rumors or didn’t comment on them, she did admit to having a romantic connection with James Hewitt, a member of the Household Cavalry. Hewitt later detailed their five-year relationship in his book, Princess in Love.

In a 1995 interview with Panorama, Diana admitted, “I really loved him, I was truly in love. But I was also very disappointed in how things turned out.”

Everyone focuses on what was happening with my beloved Princess, but she wasn’t the only one facing heartbreak. She actually confronted Charles about his feelings for Camilla, which took incredible courage. It wasn’t a one-way street, you know?

Diana explained, “It felt like there were always three people in the marriage, which made things difficult.” She acknowledged her part in the breakdown, saying she’d accept responsibility for half of what happened, but emphasized that both she and her partner contributed to the situation.

Prince Andrew, the younger brother of King Charles III, has announced he will no longer use the title Duke of York. This decision comes because of ongoing public concern about his relationship with the late Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender.

After talking with The King and my family, I’ve decided the ongoing accusations against me are taking attention away from the important work of His Majesty and the Royal Family,” Andrew said in a statement. “As I’ve always done, I’m prioritizing my family and country. I reaffirm my decision from five years ago to step back from public duties.”

Andrew stated that, with the King’s approval, he was taking things a step further. He would give up his royal title and any honors he’d received. As he’s said before, he strongly denies the claims made against him.

I was so pleased to see the King and Prince of Wales at the Countdown to COP30 event last October! It was wonderful to have them show their support at London’s Natural History Museum – a truly fitting location for such an important discussion about our planet’s future.

The couple took photos outside the museum, then went inside to talk with government officials and activists focused on fighting climate change. This event happened before the COP30 World Leaders Summit in Belém, Brazil, in November, which Prince William will attend in place of his father.

In September 2025, Sarah, Duchess of York, stepped down as a patron of Julia’s House after an old email from 2011 surfaced. The email revealed she referred to Jeffrey Epstein as a friend.

After details of the Duchess of York’s communication with Jeffrey Epstein became public this weekend, Julia’s House has decided it’s no longer appropriate for her to continue her role as a patron of the charity. The charity has informed the Duchess of this decision and expressed its gratitude for her previous contributions, according to The Guardian.

According to a representative from Ferguson, the email was sent following a threat she received from Epstein.

After a 19-month absence, Prince Harry was spotted arriving at Clarence House—the King’s home in London—apparently to visit his father before attending another event in the city.

Harry arrived at the house around 5:20 p.m. on September 10th, but Charles had come back just a few hours earlier.

Princess Anne’s son and his girlfriend, Harriet Sperling, announced their engagement on August 1st after dating for over a year. His father is Mark Phillips.

The couple’s spokesperson told Hello! magazine that both families were told about the engagement at the same time and were very happy about it.

Just a day before turning 78, the royal was made an honorary Vice Admiral by the Royal Navy.

Camilla is the first woman to receive this honorary title. It’s awarded only at the request of the King—currently Charles III—and following a nomination by the First Sea Lord, Sir Gwyn Jenkins.

Just hours before she was scheduled to attend, Princess Catherine canceled her appearance at Royal Ascot, according to Kensington Palace.

As someone who understands the importance of pacing yourself, I’ve learned Kate is understandably disappointed she couldn’t attend the event. She’s still navigating what feels right in terms of returning to public duties while prioritizing her health after her cancer treatment, and finding that balance is a really personal journey. It’s all about listening to your body and taking things one step at a time.

Prince Harry’s lawsuit seeking extra security ended on May 2nd when a court dismissed his case. This came more than a year after a previous request for increased protection was denied by the High Court and the Royal and VIP Executive Committee.

After Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stopped being full-time working royals in 2021 and moved to the US, their security protection was reduced. However, Harry continued to request security arrangements whenever he returned to the UK.

Prince Harry told the BBC on May 2nd that he was deeply upset by the outcome of his recent legal fight. He stated that, as things stand, he doesn’t foresee returning to the UK with his wife and children.

In an interview with the BBC on May 2nd, Prince Harry explained that his father, King Charles III, isn’t currently speaking to him due to disagreements about security. He expressed hope that they could repair their relationship, saying it would be ‘nice to reconcile’.

Oh my gosh, Prince Harry just said he wants to fix things with his family! Can you believe it? He and Meghan have Archie and Lilibet, and he’s hoping for a reconciliation. But honestly, it all depends on his dad, King Charles. It’s up to him to make the first move, and I’m just on the edge of my seat waiting to see what happens! I really hope they can work things out!

He stated he doesn’t foresee returning to the U.K. with his family anytime soon. He expressed sadness that his children won’t have the opportunity to experience his home country with him.

Harry explained that his father has significant influence and could potentially solve the situation. He doesn’t need to get directly involved, but simply allow the professionals to handle things and continue their work.

After years of fighting, he’s now seeking to make peace. He explained, “Life is too short, and my father doesn’t have much time left.”

More than a year after revealing his cancer diagnosis, King Charles wrote on April 29th that going through treatment has shown him the incredible kindness and strength of people.

In a booklet offering support to cancer patients, Charles explained that receiving a diagnosis is understandably scary for both individuals and their families. However, drawing from his own experience, he also shared that it can reveal incredible kindness and strength in others.

He expressed gratitude to the healthcare workers who cared for him, and shared that the experience deepened his respect for the incredible work done by the organizations and people present, many of whom he’d known and supported for years.

Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their three children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis – were absent from the royal family’s traditional Easter service at St George’s Chapel in Windsor on April 20th.

I was surprised to hear that while King Charles and Queen Camilla were enjoying celebrations with the family, Prince William and Kate chose to spend the weekend at their country home in Norfolk with the children. Several news sources have reported on their decision, and it seems they preferred a more private family time.

This was the second Easter the couple missed, happening just a week after Princess Kate shared her cancer diagnosis.

On April 15th, Jason Knauf was appointed the new CEO of Prince William’s environmental initiative, The Earthshot Prize. In a statement on the organization’s website, Knauf expressed his excitement about collaborating with the team and community to further their optimistic approach to protecting the planet.

He was promoted almost seven years after he raised concerns about Meghan Markle, claiming she bullied two personal assistants and tried to discredit another staff member. Representatives for the Sussexes denied these claims, telling The Times that the story was a deliberate attempt to damage their reputation with false information.

Okay, so I’ve been following this forever, and apparently the Palace did look into everything, but honestly, they just swept it all under the rug in 2022. They never told anyone what they found – or if they found anything at all! It’s so frustrating; I need to know the truth!

William and Kate’s eldest son George attended a soccer match in Paris alongside his dad April 7.

A father and son happily watched the UEFA Champions League Quarter Final match between Paris Saint-Germain and Aston Villa at Parc des Princes stadium.

Graham Craker, a former bodyguard to Prince Harry and Prince William, passed away in April at the age of 77.

Craker was with Princes William and Harry when they found out their mother, Princess Diana, had passed away, and he was present at her funeral.

In 2017, Craker told The New York Post that he saw Prince William acknowledge him while the Queen Mother’s hearse passed by. Craker had been standing at the back of the hearse, and he nodded to Prince William, who seemed reassured that Craker was with his mother during her final journey.

Prince Frederik, the son of Prince Robert and Princess Julie, passed away on March 1st at the age of 22 after a struggle with a rare genetic condition called PolG mitochondrial disease.

Robert shared in a statement that Frederik is a superhero to his family, friends, and now, thanks to his PolG Foundation, to people around the world. Robert believes Frederik’s special ability was inspiring others and leading through his own actions.

Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, reached a legal settlement with News Group Newspapers—the publisher of The Sun and the now-closed News of the World—on January 22nd. He had sued the organization in 2019, claiming that journalists and investigators working for its newspapers illegally obtained information about the royal family.

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been following this story closely, and it’s significant to see accountability taken. Essentially, the company has agreed to pay a considerable amount in damages to Prince Harry and has issued a complete and sincere apology. More importantly, they’ve publicly acknowledged the incredibly intrusive and damaging media coverage not just of Harry’s life, but also the late Princess Diana’s. It’s a clear admission of the harm caused by their actions.

On January 14th, The Princess of Wales shared the wonderful news that her cancer treatment has been successful and she is now in remission.

She shared on X (formerly Twitter) on January 14th that she’s relieved to be in remission and is continuing to focus on getting better. She also noted that, like anyone facing a cancer diagnosis, it takes time to adjust to life afterward.

She added that she was excited about the year ahead and optimistic about what it would bring.

Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, is grieving the loss of her rescue beagle, a dog she adopted back in 2015, before she met Prince Harry.

On January 7th, she shared a heartfelt message on Instagram about feeling overwhelmed with sadness. She described crying so much that she’d often stand in the shower, hoping the water would wash away the pain – even though she knew it wouldn’t. She acknowledged that it was okay to feel that way.

Meghan lovingly remembered her dog, Guy, saying, ‘Thank you for always loving me, my sweet boy. You brought so much joy to my life.’

Edward Pettifer, the stepson of Prince William and Prince Harry’s former nanny, Tiggy Legge-Bourke (also known as Alexandra Pettifer), was killed in a terrorist attack in New Orleans on New Year’s Day.

As a lifestyle expert, I was thrilled to see Kate and William bringing Prince George and Princess Charlotte to Wimbledon in June 2025! It was a special and rare public appearance for the whole family, and a lovely way to enjoy a classic summer event.
