In a couple of weeks, “King of the Hill” is set to return with a fresh batch of episodes, and the revival on Hulu hints at significant romances unfolding in Bobby Hill’s adult life. One of the most captivating aspects of the new “King of the Hill” series lies in watching Bobby grow into his early twenties. This transition not only allows fans to witness his maturation but also speculate about how he might have evolved since we last saw him in the original series. However, it’s comforting to know that some things about him remain constant.

In the animated series “King of the Hill,” Hank may have perceived Bobby as being portrayed in an unjust way, but Bobby’s character didn’t appear to have any significant issues that negatively impacted his school life. Throughout the original show, Bobby had numerous romantic interests, including Connie Souphanousaphone who was his girlfriend for several seasons. His love life seemed to bring him more joy rather than trouble, a trend that appears to persist in his adult years in the revival series.

Bobby Has an Active Love Life in New King of the Hill

In the preview for Season 14 of King of the Hill, it’s evident that Bobby has romantic encounters with women in his twenties. Not only does he appear to have a new girlfriend who Hank and Peggy dislike due to her being vegan, but another woman is also seen getting close to Bobby towards the end of the trailer. This situation is humorously portrayed as Bobby accidentally calls his mother while Peggy refuses to hang up the phone, suggesting that there will be two distinct women interacting with Bobby in some manner. This mirrors Bobby’s character from the original series, as he often felt undervalued but it was clear that others, including females, were drawn to his self-assured nature.

During the ATX TV Festival this Summer, voice actor Pamela Adlon made an observation. She mentioned that although Bobby, as a character, has grown physically older, she believed Bobby was already fully developed even during the initial series. In her words, “Bobby just evolved into an adult who could go to a bar and get a beer. He’s a diligent worker, learning that from his parents…He was born a complete person. He was like the Dalai Lama. He chose his path. He attracted all the women…it’s almost as if, as an adult, he has become more focused and a bit like his father.

What About Connie?

There’s a strong possibility that Connie will become central to the romantic storyline. She has already been portrayed as having a significant role in Bobby’s life in promotional materials, and she even drops by his new restaurant. However, it seems that their relationship may not be as compatible as before, since they struggled to connect as they grew older in the original series, which could also happen in the upcoming episodes.

Connie’s significant shift in her character might potentially distance her from Bobby as well, since Lauren Tom hinted that the matured Connie is expected to explore ethical non-monogamy in her relationships. This concept, referred to by the acronym ENM, was something unexpected for Connie, and even needed clarification from her own children. This approach to relationships seems to be more adventurous than initially anticipated for Connie.

In a short while, we’ll find out more about Bobby’s love life since King of the Hill is coming back for Season 14 on August 4th with Hulu.
