I was really shocked to hear that a developer on Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 said they were let go and their job is now being done by AI. They said they felt totally betrayed by the company’s management, and honestly, it’s pretty upsetting to hear. It makes you wonder what’s going on behind the scenes with game development these days.
The information originated with a user on the game’s subreddit. Moderators confirmed this user was Max Hejtmanek, a Czech-to-English translator, by checking his LinkedIn profile.
Dev says role made “obsolete” in favor of AI
The post states that Hejtmanek was informed in a meeting on March 27, 2026, that his position was being eliminated. He was told the company would be using AI for all future translations to improve efficiency.
I was really surprised,” Hejtmanek continued. “We’d talked about using AI for translation before, and I’d always been very clear about my opposition, but I never imagined it could actually put my job at risk.
Hejtmanek’s March 27 Reddit post.He shared that he spent several years at Warhorse Studios, where he helped create Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, its expansions, and promotional content.
Hejtmanek was particularly surprised by the layoff, as the company had previously discussed using AI for translation, but he didn’t think it would lead to his position being eliminated.
Hejtmanek pleaded with people not to harass anyone from WHS or leave negative reviews on their Steam games. He explained that his goal wasn’t to encourage that behavior, but simply to raise awareness about what happens behind the scenes in the games industry.
TopMob has contacted Warhorse Studios for comment.
Artificial intelligence remains a hot topic in the news and online, and recently, Apple’s Steve Wozniak shared his view that AI won’t actually replace people.
