Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 feels like it’s been available for ages, but it actually came out in February of this year – a bit of a surprise! Our reviewer, Sam Chandler, loved it, and the game has been expanded with two great DLCs. ‘Brushes with Death’ offered a touching story, while ‘Legacy of the Forge’ lets you play as a blacksmith, just like Henry’s father, and build your own business.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has been a strong contender for Game of the Year, standing alongside the biggest games released this year. Now, with the final DLC, Mysteria Ecclesiae, does it maintain that high level of quality? This is the last piece of content planned for the game, and fans are hoping it will be a perfect ending to an already fantastic experience.

In Mysteria Ecclesiae, Henry is thrown into a particularly dangerous mystery. He’s asked to join King Wenceslaus’ doctor, Albich, on a trip to a monastery to offer assistance. Upon arrival, they find the monastery struck by a strange sickness, immediately raising fears of a plague outbreak.
As Albich and his colleagues work to help those affected by this strange illness, Henry is tasked with investigating the monastery. He needs to learn about the people who live there and uncover the hidden secrets and wrongdoings that others are trying to keep hidden.
This downloadable content takes you to a brand new location: Sedletz Monastery. Once you begin, you’ll stay there for the entirety of the adventure – you can’t return to the main map until it’s finished. The monastery operates differently than other areas. When you arrive, you’ll lose your armor and weapons, as King Sigismund of Luxembourg is also present, and essential resources will be scarce.

The monastery is beautifully built and, like everything else in this world, feels incredibly real. A large chapel is its centerpiece, and the grounds include everything the monks need – places to sleep, dine, and worship, as well as gardens for growing food. Beneath the monastery lie extensive cellars, and hidden throughout are many small spaces just waiting to be discovered.
The monastery introduces a whole new group of people, and you’ll be spending a lot of time talking to them. As you try to help everyone uncover what really happened, you’ll form both friendships and rivalries, and it will be crucial to determine who is trustworthy.
Like the first Kingdom Come: Deliverance, conversations in the sequel are realistic, emotional, and often humorous. You once again play as Henry, and you’ll have plenty of chances to shape his personality, choose different dialogue options, and continue portraying him as a kind and considerate person.

The game features quests, both main and side, that explore the everyday lives of people within the monastery. You’ll often have opportunities to show kindness and support where the existing community doesn’t. Earning people’s trust is great, but truly deserving that trust by how you play the story is even more rewarding.
You’ll find lots of new items like swords, armor, and a unique mask. Plus, you can create new potions and uncover skill books hidden throughout the monastery, giving you plenty of extras to take with you when you start the main game.
Mysteria Ecclesiae is a strong conclusion to Henry’s story, offering meaningful choices, enjoyable gameplay, and a compelling mystery. What’s great is you can play it at any point during your Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 playthrough. It reinforces that Henry is a truly memorable protagonist – a commoner who defies expectations, experiences more than most, and always maintains a hopeful outlook.
The biggest drawback of the Mysteria Ecclesiae DLC is that it concludes the story of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. Now, all that’s left is to wait and hope Warhorse Studios creates a third game that captures the same enjoyment, mystery, and emotional depth found in this one.
