The new series, Seven Dials, based on an Agatha Christie story, is set in 1925. It follows Lady Eileen “Bundle” Brent (Mia McKenna-Bruce) as she investigates a murder that occurs during a country house party. With help from Lady Caterham (Helena Bonham Carter) and Superintendent Battle (Martin Freeman), Bundle unravels a mystery that will have lasting consequences. McKenna-Bruce praised the writing, saying, “The scripts by Chris Chibnall are fantastic, and I’m excited to be involved in this fresh take on Agatha Christie’s classic stories.”
As a huge fan of Agatha Christie, I’m really thrilled to see Seven Dials being adapted for the screen! As an executive producer on this project, and having worked on The Crown before, I’m especially excited to introduce Christie’s fantastic characters to a new audience. It’s been a wonderful experience collaborating with Chris Chibnall on a really fresh and ambitious take on the story. Along with Chris Sussman and the team at Agatha Christie Limited, and with Chris Sweeney directing, we’re all incredibly passionate about bringing this to life. Honestly, I can’t imagine a better first project for Orchid Pictures, or a more fitting home for this story than Netflix.
James Prichard, the great-grandson of Agatha Christie and an executive producer on the new adaptation, expressed his excitement about seeing one of her memorable characters, Bundle Brent, come to life on screen. He manages the rights to Christie’s works and said it’s been a dream to collaborate with Chris Chibnall and the teams at Orchid Pictures and Netflix on this production. He believes audiences will enjoy the world they’ve created and hopes it leads to future adaptations.
