Konami quietly released a collection of five classic Super Nintendo games, bringing back fond memories for gamers who grew up in the 1990s. While Konami isn’t as prominent today as it was during its golden age in the 90s and early 2000s – when series like Metal Gear, Castlevania, and Silent Hill were incredibly popular – many of its main franchises continue through new installments, remakes, or adaptations. Unfortunately, not all classic Konami series have fared so well; some have been inactive for years, and others aren’t what they used to be.
Okay, so remember Bomberman? It was huge back in the 90s, but hasn’t really made a splash lately. Well, Konami just dropped a perfect collection for us nostalgic fans! It’s called Super Bomberman Collection, and they announced and released it all on the same day for Switch, Switch 2, PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X. You can grab it on Steam, the Nintendo eShop, PlayStation Store, or Xbox Store for just $20. And for that price, you get a ton of games! It includes Super Bomberman through Super Bomberman 5, plus the original NES Bomberman and Bomberman II. Basically, it’s got all the classics!
New Content and Features for NES and SNES Classics
Many people first experienced the Bomberman series with Super Bomberman on the SNES. Whether you’re a fan of the older or newer games, this collection features the original titles as they were meant to be played, with a few new additions and features included as well.
Now you can save and load your game at any time, a feature that wasn’t available before. We’ve also added a rewind function, screen filters, and a new “BOMB Radio” for listening to and creating playlists with the game’s original music. Plus, you can explore concept art and behind-the-scenes development materials in a new gallery. But the biggest addition is a brand new Boss Rush mode!
This is the best way to experience these classic games, and players are loving it! Reviews are overwhelmingly positive, with a 94% approval rating on Steam, showing this collection has been carefully put together and runs smoothly.
Unlike many games from the 1990s, Super Bomberman remains enjoyable today because of its simple yet effective design. Modern technology hasn’t made it feel outdated – a new version would likely be very similar to the originals. Super Bomberman doesn’t rely on flashy graphics or a complex story, elements that often don’t age well. The gameplay itself hasn’t changed much since the 90s, which is a good thing – it’s still fun to play in 2026 and, in many ways, better than newer games.
