Kyle Busch‘s attorney is setting the record straight.
Just two days after NASCAR driver Kyle Busch tragically passed away at age 41, leaving behind his wife, Samantha Busch, and their two children, Brexton, 11, and Lennix, 4, attorney Robert Rikard clarified that reports claiming Kyle didn’t have adequate life insurance were untrue.
His lawyer stated on LinkedIn on May 23rd that the spread of inaccurate information must cease and those responsible should issue corrections. The attorney also clarified that two insurance policies were already cancelled before any legal action and that the remaining policies were managed appropriately.
He shared that the racecar driver’s family has been receiving guidance from a professional.
Rikard explained that the Busch family hired an insurance expert to review their policies. This expert suggested a careful switch to new coverage that would offer a significant death benefit for the rest of their lives.
He stressed that the Busch family didn’t cancel their insurance; they upgraded to a more comprehensive plan. He firmly denied claims that anyone suggested they give up millions in death benefits, stating those spreading the rumor are aware it’s false.
Curt Busch passed away on May 21st, only hours after his family shared that he would be unable to race in the Coca-Cola 600. The cause of death was determined to be a severe case of pneumonia that developed into sepsis.
According to a medical evaluation shared with the Busch family, a severe case of pneumonia quickly developed into sepsis, leading to serious and life-threatening complications, the family announced in a statement to NBC News. They have asked for privacy and understanding as they cope with this challenging situation.
Since Kurt Busch’s death, additional information has emerged. Sources told the Associated Press that he lost consciousness while using Chevrolet’s racing simulator and was immediately taken to a local hospital. He did not respond before being transported.

After his death, NASCAR honored Busch, a highly accomplished and celebrated driver.
The association described Kyle as an exceptional, once-in-a-generation talent and a future Hall of Famer. They highlighted his competitive spirit, passion, incredible skill, and genuine care for the sport and its fans.
NASCAR expressed deep sadness today, saying the sport has lost a truly important figure, and it was a loss felt far too soon. They asked for respect for the family’s privacy during this very difficult time and requested continued support through thoughts and prayers.
