Kyle Busch’s Brother Kurt Busch Breaks Silence on NASCAR Star’s Death

Kurt Busch is thankful for memories with his younger brother.

The former NASCAR driver shared a heartfelt message remembering his brother, Kyle Busch, who passed away last month at 41 after a battle with health issues, including pneumonia and sepsis.

Kurt, 47, shared a heartfelt message on Instagram on June 8th, thanking everyone for their kind wishes, support, and love following his brother’s passing. He posted touching family photos and recalled fondly the days he and his brother, Kyle, would race anything they could find, finding a positive memory amidst a difficult time.

And those priceless memories as brothers started from an early age, Kurt reminisced. 

Kurt reminisced about their almost twenty years racing together, saying they were more than just rivals. He explained that they constantly motivated each other, offering challenges and valuable lessons. He praised Kyle’s dedication, drive, and strong family values, noting that these qualities inspired everyone around him.

The Busch brothers—Kyle and Kurt—are famous in NASCAR for achieving more combined wins than any other siblings. They’re also unique in that each has individually won over 30 Cup Series races. Beyond racing, Kyle Busch is deeply cherished by his family and friends.

Kurt said that nothing – no award or achievement – could compare to the positive influence this person had on his life and the lives of many others. He expressed deep gratitude for their shared memories, the wisdom they imparted, and the strong bond they formed.

He said he was heartbroken, but he would always carry his brother’s memory with him. “Rest easy,” he finished.

Kyle passed away on May 21st, just a day after being admitted to a hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina. According to his death certificate, obtained by Us Weekly, he had been experiencing a series of health issues for several days or weeks before his death.

Following the death of Kyle Busch, his wife Samantha Busch – who he married in 2010 and with whom he shares two children, 11-year-old Brexton and 4-year-old Lennix – expressed that the overwhelming support her family has received has been a source of comfort during this incredibly difficult time.

She shared on Instagram on June 5th that seeing the ways people are honoring Kyle with their kindness really shows how much he meant to them. While his loss is incredibly painful, she feels supported by the outpouring of love and generosity, reminding her they aren’t facing it alone thanks to everyone’s support.

NASCAR driver Kyle Busch passed away on May 21st at the age of 41, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife, Samantha Busch, and their two children: son Brexton, born in 2015, and daughter Lennix, born in 2022.

I was absolutely thrilled to see Kyle win the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Echo Park Speedway back in February 2026! It was amazing to see him celebrate in Victory Lane with Samantha, Brexton, and Lennix – such a special moment!

Samantha celebrated her son Brexton’s successful racing season at Millbridge Speedway with a heartfelt Instagram post. She expressed immense pride in his growth and achievements, particularly his first Saturday Night Series Championship, and shared her excitement for his future racing endeavors.

You know, life isn’t always about speed! I recently spent a lovely afternoon with my family, and it reminded me that simple moments are the best. We were at a playdate benefiting the Bundle of Joy Fund, and the highlight? Definitely finding the perfect pumpkins! My kids, Samantha and Brexton, were so excited – it was just a really sweet, fun day.

Kyle and Samantha Busch took a trip to Las Vegas, which Kyle celebrated with an Instagram post saying he’d ‘hit the jackpot’ with her.

In May 2021, after Kyle won the NASCAR Xfinity Series Pit Boss 250, his wife, Samantha, and son, Brexton, joined him in celebrating his victory in Austin, Texas.
