Lamar Odom is facing new legal troubles.
According to police records obtained by TopMob News, the two-time NBA champion was arrested for DUI in Las Vegas on January 17th.
Police also charged 46-year-old Lamar with speeding – going over 41 miles per hour above the limit – and with making an unsafe lane change. A court hearing is scheduled for March 17th.
The basketball player, who was married to Khloe Kardashian from 2009 to 2016, had previous legal trouble. In August 2013, he was arrested for driving under the influence in Los Angeles, which led to a one-year suspension of his driver’s license. He later pleaded no contest and, in December of that year, was sentenced to three years of probation, $1,814 in fines, and required to complete an alcohol education program, according to TopMob News.
In October 2015, Lamar experienced a life-threatening drug overdose at a brothel in Nevada, leaving him unconscious. He was in a coma for three days and suffered multiple serious medical complications, including six heart attacks and twelve strokes, while hospitalized.
Lamar recently met with his ex-partner for the first time in nine years, and he shared that becoming a father to his children, Destiny, 27, and Lamar Jr., 23, motivated him to stop using drugs. Destiny and Lamar Jr.’s mother is Liza Morales. Sadly, Lamar and Liza lost their youngest son, Jayden, to sudden infant death syndrome when he was just six months old in 2006.
Lamar Odom shared on The Kardashians that his desire to be close to his children and earn their respect was what ultimately led him to change his ways.
The former athlete also admitted that his behavior had impacted Khloe, 41, who supported him during his recovery.
“I took you through a lot,” Lamar told Khloe. “I love you for trying your hardest with me.”
