Latest Report Suggests Why One Piece’s Creator Agreed to Netflix’s Live-Action Series

Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece is the best-selling manga ever, recently reaching 600 million copies in circulation worldwide. Since its launch in 1997, the series has consistently grown in popularity, and the anime adaptation in 1999 helped it reach an even wider audience. However, for many years, One Piece remained most popular in Japan, despite Oda’s ambition for global success. According to recent data from Oricon, only 150 million of those 600 million copies have been sold outside of Japan. Oda hopes the new live-action adaptation will help bridge this gap and make the series a worldwide phenomenon.

Live-action adaptations of beloved stories often disappoint fans because they stray too far from the original material. However, Netflix’s One Piece, despite making changes, successfully captures the heart and soul of the manga. The show’s success is due to the dedication of the creators and Eiichiro Oda’s close involvement. Released in 2023, One Piece quickly gained a global audience and has been renewed for a second season, premiering on March 10th, 2026.

One Piece Live-Action Season 2 Will Commence The Journey to The Grand Line

I’m so hyped for Season 2, One Piece: Into the Grand Line! It’s going to follow the Straw Hats as they officially enter the Grand Line, and we’ll get to see some amazing arcs adapted from the manga – Loguetown, Reverse Mountain, Whiskey Peak, Little Garden, and Drum Island! They’re saving the huge Alabasta Arc for Season 3, which is okay because it gives us time to breathe. The first season ended with a real shocker – a Marine burning Luffy’s wanted poster! The trailer for Season 2 finally revealed who he is, and let me tell you, he looks like he’s going to be a serious problem for Luffy and the crew!

The Straw Hat Pirates are setting off on a journey to the Grand Line, a legendary place they’ve only dreamed of. It’s a dangerous world full of surprises, from the weather to the people they’ll meet, so the crew needs to be cautious. They’re ready for anything, though! The new season will also feature fresh faces, including new friends who will join the crew of the Going Merry and sail around the world with them.
