Since launching four months ago, Ghost of Yotei has proven more popular than Ghost of Tsushima was at the start, selling more copies during the same initial timeframe.
Ghost of Tsushima, the sequel to the original 2020 game, is performing exceptionally well, with sales surpassing those of its predecessor during the same timeframe, according to Sony (via VGC). This strong performance significantly boosted Sony’s latest financial results, which were better than anticipated. The report also revealed that PlayStation 5 console sales have reached 92.2 million units.
One month after launching in October 2025, Sony announced that Ghost of Yotei had sold 3.3 million copies. This is a bit slower than its predecessor, Ghost of Tsushima, which sold 2.4 million copies in just three days and 5 million copies in four months. Ghost of Yotei was also the third best-selling game in the US last year.
Today’s quotes from Sony suggest Ghost of Yotei has now sold more than five million units.
Sony’s latest financial report for the third quarter of fiscal year 2025 shows a rise in sales of its exclusive PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 games compared to last year. The company sold 13.2 million copies of these games, which is 1.6 million more than during the same period last year. The recently released game, Ghost of Yotei, played a major role in this increase.
