Bloober Team recently informed investors that they aren’t currently making a new Layers of Fear game. Instead, the studio is focused on two big horror projects, each being developed by a separate team. Both games will prioritize strong storytelling, and the company plans to share more information at upcoming industry events.
One of our production teams is starting to prepare for a new original project. Meanwhile, many of the people who worked on Cronos: The New Dawn are now assisting another team to refine their projects.
According to Babieno, the team’s creative department is in the early stages of developing a new, original project. Meanwhile, much of the team that worked on ‘Cronos’ is now helping to refine several projects developed through our partners. Once the initial planning phase is complete, they’ll move into full production on the new project.
Once the team finishes supporting Cronos: The New Dawn, they’ll begin work on Project H. This project is currently in the early planning stages, and its budget is anticipated to be similar to that of Cronos.
Babieno explained that focusing on a single game genre allows them to reuse successful production methods and apply lessons learned from past projects. They’re also aiming for a much larger audience with this new game, and are carefully studying the market to ensure it reaches as many players as possible. However, they aren’t ready to announce a release date just yet.
So, about Layers of Fear 3 – the one they announced a while back – apparently Bloober Team is working on it with another studio, but they’re still heavily involved, giving a lot of direction. And good news for fans, it sounds like Bloober is funding most of their current projects themselves, except for one game they’re doing with a publisher.
He explained that, with the exception of one project done with a partner publisher, all of our projects are currently funded by the company itself. This indicates we’ve been investing significantly in recent years, and we expect to see those investments pay off in the future.
After a lengthy and intriguing online countdown, Layers of Fear 3 has been officially announced. Currently, no information about when or on what platforms the game will be released has been shared. The announcement happened as Bloober Team celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Layers of Fear series, which began in 2016.
Bloober Team recently released Cronos: The New Dawn on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. You can find our full review if you’d like to learn more. They’ve also announced they are currently working on a remake of the classic Silent Hill.
