LEGO released its first Pokémon set earlier this year, and now they’ve come out with another, even more detailed version.
Today the toy company announced 12 new Pokémon sets as part of the LEGO SMART Play range.
Popular Pokémon like Pikachu, Charizard, Squirtle, Gengar, and Mewtwo will be available for young fans ages 6 and up to enjoy and play with.
Similar to other SMART Play sets, these sets respond to how you build and play with light, motion, and sound. Each set includes at least one LEGO SMART Brick, a SMART Charger, and LEGO SMART Tags that work together to create interactive experiences.
As a critic, I recently got a look at the new LEGO Pokémon sets, and what really struck me was how interactive they are. Julia Goldin, from LEGO, explained that these aren’t just static builds; they actually respond to how kids play with them. You can build your Pokémon, ‘train’ it through play, and really get lost in imaginative storytelling. It’s a clever way to boost creativity and confidence, letting kids feel like they’re truly connecting with their Pokémon.
As a longtime Pokémon fan, I really connected with what Gaku Susai, a leader at The Pokémon Company, said. He explained that Pokémon has always been about the fun of finding new things and building connections with others. Seeing how much imagination can blossom when it’s encouraged is something I experience with Pokémon all the time, and it’s amazing to hear that’s a core value for the company.
