Under the leadership of Hideaki Itsuno, known for directing hit games like “Devil May Cry 5” and “Dragon’s Dogma,” LightSpeed Japan Studio has made some exciting announcements. They’ve set up a new office in Osaka in addition to their Tokyo base, and they’re also welcoming experienced Capcom game developers Bingo Morihashi, Daigo Ikeno, and Gouda Cheese onto their team.
Bingo Morihashi serves as a lead storyteller in his role. Previously, he has crafted narratives for the Devil May Cry and Dragon’s Dogma game series, among others.
Daigo Ikeno is an artist transitioning into a role as art director. His past projects include designing characters for games such as Street Fighter III 3rd Strike, Devil May Cry 2, Devil May Cry 3, Devil May Cry 5, and Street Fighter IV.
Gouda Cheese, often referred to as Bengus, is an artist who specializes in art design. In his past work, he has created 2D character designs for games such as the Darkstalkers and Marvel vs. Capcom series, and was also involved in producing the anime Battle Spirits: Shounen Gekiha Dan.
Through setting up studios in Tokyo and Osaka, we’ve created a structure that taps into some of Japan’s top game development skills, according to Itsuno in a press statement. The newly hired senior professionals excel in areas like story creation, visual design, and character modeling, and will act as key players in crafting our groundbreaking AAA action game. Developing an original AAA intellectual property from scratch is quite unusual in Japan nowadays, but that’s exactly what we aim to achieve.
Currently, LightSpeed Japan Studio boasts around 40 team members, who are working tirelessly on the creation of an innovative, next-generation action game that can run seamlessly across various platforms. This cutting-edge title is based on a fresh, original concept yet to be seen in the gaming world. For those interested, LightSpeed Japan Studio has open positions available in Tokyo and Osaka for a variety of roles within the industry.
