Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio just announced that they’re remaking *Yakuza 3* as *Yakuza Kiwami 3* during their recent RGG Summit. They also revealed a new side story, *Like a Dragon 3 Gaiden – Dark Ties*, which focuses on Yoshitaka Mine, the villain from the original *Yakuza 3*. You can watch the announcement trailer below.
Before becoming involved in the criminal underworld, Mine was a businessman who had been removed from the research and development department at his own company. He later met Daigo Dojima and, alongside Tsuyoshi Kanda, the leader of the Nishikiyama Family, became a member of the yakuza in Kamurocho.
Okay, so they haven’t said *when* or *where* we’ll be able to play *Like a Dragon 3 Gaiden – Dark Ties* yet, but it sounds like there’s going to be a bunch of cool locations to explore. I’m really excited to see more of Mine and Kanda’s story – they’re promising a lot of focus on their relationship. The big question is how Mine ends up crossing paths with Kiryu, setting things up for *Yakuza 3*. I’ll be keeping an eye out for more news on that!
