Okay, so Limited Run Games has gotten a bit of a bad rap in the collecting community, and honestly, this Sonic X Shadow Generations Collector’s Edition really shows you why. It’s just… not great, and it adds to the issues people have had with them in the past.
Basically, this product is a large statue of the main characters sitting on a Dreamcast console. It took a long time to make and deliver, and unfortunately, the statue wasn’t very well made.
On top of that, not all customers have even received their Collector’s Editions yet.
The company has finally taken ownership of the situation in a recently issued statement.
We sincerely apologize. The statue we presented doesn’t meet the quality you expect – or that we expect from ourselves – and we admit it’s simply not good enough.
So, it looks like Limited Run Games has new people in charge, which is pretty exciting! They’re saying they have a fresh vision for what an LRG release should be – basically, they want to deliver a better experience for us fans. The best part? They’ve promised to be way more open about what they’re doing and really step up their game with every future release. I’m hoping this means fewer headaches and more awesome games!
Limited Run Games has stopped taking new orders for the Sonic X Shadow Generations Collector’s Edition, and will not be shipping any further copies at this time.
The statue is being reworked because they’re starting a new production process to ensure it meets fans’ expectations.
If you’ve already ordered the Collector’s Edition, you’ll get an email within the next week explaining your choices. You can either get a replacement statue once we’ve ensured it meets our quality standards, or you can request a full refund if you prefer not to wait. The email will have all the details.
The announcement directs fans to the production blog for updates on the new Collector’s Edition statue. The first post will be available this Friday, March 13th.
It’s been a long and complicated story, but it looks like Limited Run Games is finally taking responsibility for its actions.
