Lindsey Vonn “In Stable Condition” After Shocking Olympics 2026 Crash

Lindsey Vonn is on the mend.

Following a crash during the women’s downhill final at the Olympics in Cortina, Italy on February 8th, the ski racer was taken off the slopes by helicopter. Her team has now released an update on her condition.

Lindsey Vonn was injured, according to a February 8th post from the US Ski and Snowboard Team on X (formerly Twitter). However, officials say she is stable and receiving care from doctors in both the United States and Italy.

The team spoke out shortly after the gold medalist crashed while skiing. The impact with the snow was severe, and her screams of pain were broadcast during the event. Her sister, Karin Kildow, was present and watched the accident happen.

“It was the last thing we wanted to happen,” Karin told NBC’s Cara Banks on February 8th. “Your immediate concern is just hoping she’s alright, and it was really frightening. Seeing the stretchers come out is never a good sign.”

She added, “She dared greatly, and she put it all out there.”

Even though she was hurt, Lindsey still found the energy to support her teammate, Breezy Johnson. Breezy shared that Lindsey was able to cheer her on from the helicopter.

Speaking to reporters on February 8th, the 30-year-old said her coach was supporting her from the helicopter and expressed hope for her well-being. She said she was very worried and heartbroken, adding that the sport can be incredibly dangerous.

She added, “It can hurt you so badly but you keep coming back for more.”

Lindsey injured her ACL in a skiing accident at the World Cup in Switzerland on January 30th. Even so, she was determined to compete in the Olympics just a week later.

Lindsey announced on Instagram on February 3rd that, after thorough medical evaluations, therapy, and even a day of skiing, she’s ready to compete in the Olympic Downhill this Sunday. She still needs to complete one practice run, which is standard for the race, but feels confident her body is prepared.

As Lindsey recovers, read on for more stars who have shared their health scares with the world…

Nikki Bella, known from Total Bellas, shared that one of her breast implants moved after being hit during an elbow slam by fellow wrestler Piper Niven in a match that took place in July 2025.

I remember telling my sister, Bella, that everything would be alright. I was fresh out of a divorce and explained to my doctor that as soon as my dancing days were over, I’d be back to address a certain… cosmetic issue. I was determined to get it fixed so I could look fantastic – I knew I’d be getting back out there and wanted to make sure everything looked its best!

Lupita Nyong’o, known for her role in 12 Years a Slave, received a diagnosis of uterine fibroids—benign growths in or around the uterus—in 2014, the same year she won an Academy Award for her performance in the film.

She didn’t share her diagnosis until 2025, when she revealed on Instagram that she had been privately struggling with the condition for over ten years.

She explained that many girls are taught to accept period pain as a normal part of being a woman. This often leaves them dealing with a common issue in silence and feeling isolated.

In July 2025, the actress from Daisy Jones & The Six revealed she’d been hospitalized for a hernia. This happened because she’d been wearing pants that were too tight, which caused a gap to form in her abdominal muscles.

She messaged Suki on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “You haven’t tweeted in ages!” Then, jokingly, she added, “I’ve been meaning to tell you… I think those super-tight pants I wore six months ago gave me a hernia, and I’ve been too afraid to say anything.”

“It’s been awful,” Devine shared on the In Depth With Graham Bensinger podcast in 2025. “I’ve been having spasms all over my body, and doctors told me recently—within the last year—that I was facing a life-threatening situation.”

He explained that his pain is intermittent, saying, “My body has a few quirks and isn’t quite working as it should.”

A former contestant on The Bachelor went to the hospital because of severe back pain. He said the pain was so bad he had to crawl on his hands and knees, and it got worse during a road trip with a friend.

He described a lingering tingling sensation in his knees and toes, saying it was “crazy” even weeks after the initial issue. He explained that just a month prior, he was squatting 295 pounds, but now he can’t even do a basic squat or stand on one leg without falling, comparing the feeling to having a stroke.

But with the help of a back specialist and some steroids, he added, “We’re on the mend.”

In February 2025, the former Even Stevens star revealed she was shot in the face during a birthday celebration for her husband, Brendan Rooney. They were on a trip to go clay pigeon shooting when the incident occurred.

Let me tell you, something pretty scary happened recently. I was at a gathering when someone carelessly discharged a firearm in the wrong direction, and unfortunately, I was hit in the face. Thankfully, Brendan Rooney was an absolute hero – he instantly checked me over and got me to the hospital right away. I ended up with five wounds, and one was dangerously close to my right eye – less than an inch away, actually. It was a frightening experience, but I’m so grateful for Brendan’s quick thinking and help.

The Kim Possible actor explained that a small piece of something got stuck behind their eye. Doctors have advised against removing it with surgery right now, but they’re keeping a close watch on the situation. Thankfully, their vision is currently normal.

Amy Schumer is grateful for the internet, despite its often negative side, because it helped her discover a health issue. After noticing she looked “puffier” during interviews, she was surprised to see doctors commenting online, concerned about her appearance and suggesting she might have Cushing syndrome. This led her to realize the condition could be linked to steroid injections she’d received after a breast reduction and C-section. Schumer shared that she wouldn’t have known about the condition without the online commentary. She recently learned she has a form of Cushing syndrome that will resolve on its own, and is relieved to be healthy.

During a game in December 2024, an AHL player was accidentally cut in the face by another player’s skate and needed 25 stitches to close the wound. In March 2022, Hailey Bieber experienced a frightening health scare while having breakfast with her husband, Justin. She suddenly began to have stroke-like symptoms, struggling to speak and noticing her face drooping. Though the symptoms briefly subsided, she went to the hospital for evaluation. Doctors discovered she’d had a small blood clot travel to her brain, which they identified as a TIA, or transient ischemic attack. Further testing at UCLA revealed Hailey had a hole in her heart called a patent foramen ovale (PFO). This hole allowed the blood clot to reach her brain, causing the TIA. Hailey successfully underwent a procedure to close the PFO and is now recovering well.

The same year Hailey faced a health issue, Justin also experienced one. In June 2022, he revealed he had been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, a condition that caused temporary paralysis on one side of his face. This forced him to cancel the remaining dates of his Justice World Tour.

In a video posted to Instagram, Justin explained that the virus affected the nerves in his ear and face, preventing him from blinking, smiling, or moving his nostril on the affected side. He also mentioned it became increasingly difficult for him to eat.

Fortunately, the paralysis eventually went away. Hailey shared on Good Morning America that Justin was recovering well, stating it had been a frightening experience, but he was going to be okay and she was thankful he was fine.

Initially, a doctor gave him a cortisone shot and sent him home, but his sister, Deidra Dixon, was worried and took him to the hospital. There, doctors discovered he had a brain bleed that led to a stroke.

After surgery, twenty days later, on May 4th, Jamie woke up in a wheelchair unable to walk. He then traveled to Chicago for rehabilitation and therapy.

Jamie expressed his gratitude for the prayers he received, saying, “I needed every prayer.”

The reality TV star said she temporarily stopped breathing while running a mile as part of the first challenge on the NBC show.

She shared on the show Fit for TV: The Reality of The Biggest Loser that her memory of the event was fragmented. She recalled hearing a helicopter, feeling like she was floating, and then seeing her grandfather. After that, everything went dark, but then she saw light, which led her to realize she had died that day.

She explained that her organs were failing. She hadn’t known she had rhabdomyolysis, a condition where your body essentially starts to shut down.

Emilia Clarke, known for her role in Game of Thrones, revealed a harrowing health battle in a 2019 essay for The New Yorker. While filming the show, she experienced a sudden, severe headache at the gym, which quickly escalated. She described feeling violently ill and realizing something was seriously wrong with her brain.

After being taken to the hospital, doctors diagnosed her with a subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), a life-threatening stroke caused by bleeding around the brain. She had suffered an aneurysm, a rupture in an artery. Immediate surgery was performed to repair it, but the pain was excruciating.

During her recovery, Emilia experienced aphasia, making it difficult to speak coherently. Fortunately, this passed after a week, and she was discharged from the hospital after a month. However, a 2013 brain scan revealed that the aneurysm had doubled in size, requiring a second surgery.

This second procedure was unsuccessful, leading to a massive bleed. Doctors warned her that another surgery – this time requiring them to access her brain directly through her skull – was necessary for her to survive. Thankfully, Emilia is now fully recovered and says she is “at a hundred per cent.”

As a lifestyle advocate, I’m always inspired by stories of resilience, and Cori Broadus, Snoop Dogg’s daughter, is a shining example. She recently shared her incredibly brave battle with a stroke she suffered back in January of this year. Thankfully, her family was immediately there for her. She told TopMob News that she simply texted them what happened, sent a picture, and ‘everybody just came to my rescue.’

Her hospital stay ended up being longer than expected, though, because she was also dealing with some existing health concerns. She explained that while she could have gone home after the stroke, her lupus was flaring up and her kidneys were starting to fail – it was a really challenging time.

But the good news is, Cori is doing so much better now! She says she’s ‘doing great,’ and while she had to work on regaining some motor skills, she’s overall feeling really good. It’s a powerful reminder to cherish your loved ones and appreciate your health.

Shailene Woodley struggled with significant health issues throughout her early twenties. In a September 2024 podcast interview, she revealed she experienced hearing loss, extreme fatigue, and persistent stomach pain, leading to a confusing array of diagnoses. Determined to find answers, Woodley combined traditional medical care with holistic and herbal remedies. This search for well-being spanned a decade. She explained that the physical discomfort led to anxieties around food and, eventually, struggles with body image and a sense of self. Thankfully, after years of addressing both her physical and mental health, Woodley is now feeling much better and considers herself very healthy. She’s grateful to be in a place where she can say that.
