The highly anticipated new Pokémon game, Pokémon Pokopia, is launching worldwide on March 5th. It’s the first Pokémon title exclusive to the Switch 2, and it’s already breaking records with the highest Metacritic score ever for a Pokémon game. Pre-downloads are available, and fans are excited to start playing at launch. Adding to the excitement, the first in-game event for Pokopia has been announced, promising more Pokémon will be added to the game’s collection through special events in the future.
Whenever a new Pokémon game like Pokémon Pokopia comes out, players always wonder how it will compare to other games in the series. With Pokopia launching soon, fans are especially curious. One big question is whether Shiny Pokémon will be available – I haven’t found any yet, but that might just be me! Pokémon don’t evolve in Pokopia, though you can encounter fully evolved forms in the wild. Good news for those who enjoy in-game events: Pokémon Pokopia will have its first live event on March 10th, adding new Pokémon and environments to the game.
First Pokemon Pokopia In-Game Event and Mystery Gift Revealed

As I mentioned in my Pokopia review, this game is massive! There’s a ton to do and a huge number of Pokémon to discover. Even without any extra content, players will be occupied for a very long time. But it looks like Pokopia will continue to grow after its release. Pokémon officially announced the first limited-time event for Pokémon Pokopia on March 4th, and it seems this is just the beginning of many more to come.
The latest news about Pokopia reveals that the game will feature limited-time events alongside the main storyline. The first event, “More Spores for Hoppip,” starts on March 9th and ends on March 24th. This event will introduce Hoppip, Skiploom, and Jumpluff to the game, and it’s the only chance players will have to catch them, so be sure to mark your calendars!
In the Pokopia event, Pokémon don’t evolve in the traditional way. Instead, you’ll need to build appealing habitats to draw all three Pokémon—Hoppip, Skiploom, and Jumpluff—to your town. You can find Hoppip and gather special cotton spores to help you attract Skiploom and Jumpluff. Keep in mind that the event is only available in towns where the Pokémon Center has been rebuilt, so it’s a good idea to make some progress in Pokopia beforehand to participate.

So, along with the live event, they’ve confirmed we’re getting Mystery Gifts in Pokemon Pokopia! The first one is a Ditto Rug – it’s a decoration for our houses in the game. You can snag it using the ‘Get Via Internet’ option, and it’s available right now until January 31st, 2027, so don’t forget to grab it!
The latest information suggests Game Freak and Koei Tecmo intend to continue updating Pokemon Pokopia with new content for the foreseeable future. Given the game’s Metacritic scores and my own experience, they’re likely correct in believing that fans will be excited for whatever comes next.
Great news! Pokopia is hosting live events! Share your thoughts and join the discussion in the ComicBook Forum!
