Howie Mandel is dealing with the fallout from his recent daytime TV visit.
Following an apology from the former Deal or No Deal contestant for a heated moment with Kelly Ripa during his March 24th appearance on Live With Kelly and Mark, the show’s executive producer, Michael Gelman, jokingly commented on the incident.
Michael playfully commented on Howie’s Instagram post, saying, ‘Despite everything going on, you’re looking good… for your age!’
Just days before, 70-year-old Howie criticized Kelly, 55, for questioning why he seems to be aging so well. This happened while Kelly’s husband and co-host, Mark Consuelos, attempted to calm things down. Howie later explained he didn’t intend for his remarks to be taken seriously.
Howie said in a video that he’d been struggling with whether to share his thoughts. He believes comedians shouldn’t have to apologize for making jokes, even if someone is offended.
Although the America’s Got Talent judge said his joke wasn’t intended to be hurtful, he decided to explain himself out of respect for Kelly, who has always been a strong supporter of his work.

I’ve appeared on her show as a guest, and we’ve even co-hosted together. I’ve known her for a long time, so when I’m on stage, I always try to be funny and engaging. But sometimes, jokes just don’t quite hit the mark, and that’s just part of being a comedian.
But that didn’t stop Howie from trying out some new material.
He apologized to Kelly, then jokingly admitted, “You were right—and that’s the tough part to say!” He continued, “You’re absolutely right, and I’m sorry it took me so long to realize it. But honestly, after thinking about it, I feel really good for my age.”
Howie added, “I just have to embrace the fact that I look this good.”
Howie’s recent TV appearance caused quite a stir, but Kelly and Mark have a history of surprising viewers with their candid moments. Here are some of their most shocking on-air revelations.

Okay, let’s talk relationships! I’ve been following the hilarious back-and-forth between Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, and it’s something a lot of us can relate to. Kelly playfully revealed on her show years ago that after some intimate time with Mark, he tends to be a little…grumpy with her afterwards. She joked he gets short-tempered and irritated, which she found odd! It became a bit of a trending topic, and Mark had to clarify things – in a funny way, of course! He quipped that you can’t exactly be mean to someone if you’re asleep! Kelly then clarified she meant he was just totally out of it, like sound asleep. Honestly, it’s a lighthearted moment that shows even long-married couples have their little quirks and funny misunderstandings. It’s all about communication and a good sense of humor!

Kelly Ripa’s children, Michael, Lola, and Joaquin Consuelos, are careful about what they look at online. This stems from instances like when Mark Consuelos announced he’d be managing the Instagram account for his show Riverdale in 2019, which prompted a playful comment from Kelly. Because of moments like these, Kelly believes her kids have made a concerted effort to remove any trace of them from social media. She told TopMob News in April 2023 that she’s sure they’ve blocked any account mentioning their family name, and block them in any way possible.

Kelly Clarkson shared some old Halloween photos in 2020, including one of her husband, Mark, and his friend Bruce Bozzi dressed as CHiPs officers. Mark’s outfit was a little snug, and someone commented on it, jokingly suggesting a shadow was causing a certain… bulge. Kelly playfully questioned if he was actually seeing shadows. Later, on the show Daily Pop, host Justin Sylvester brought it up, implying it was a secret to their long marriage. Kelly didn’t deny it, saying it was definitely among the top three reasons they were still together.

Kelly jokingly admitted she now meticulously checks every family photo before posting it online. This habit started after the overwhelming response to their Halloween pictures. When a commenter noticed how carefully she’d chosen photos from a 2020 vacation, Kelly playfully responded, saying she’s extremely cautious about what she shares, even though she isn’t really upset about it.

After nearly 30 years of marriage and raising three children, Kelly revealed the key to their lasting relationship: “Love and intimacy,” she shared on an episode of Live! in 2021.
Mark and Kelly revealed how they privately cope with stress while Mark guest-hosted and they talked about the show Scenes From a Marriage.
Kelly was commenting on the couple’s issues they were watching, saying that situation would never happen in her own marriage to Mark Consuelos. She explained that Mark would immediately address any problem. ‘If you’re upset, he’d fix it. If you’re feeling down, he’d take care of it. If you’re stressed, he’d know what to do,’ she said. She then explained that Mark resolves everything with ‘love.’ Mark jokingly added ‘not everything!’ but Kelly clarified that it’s ‘almost everything,’ implying affection and intimacy are his go-to solutions.

Kelly Clarkson admitted she’s not a fan of morning intimacy with her husband, Mark. “I find it disgusting,” she said on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast in July 2025. She’s made it clear that their sex life needs to be a two-way street. “I told him, ‘We need balance. It always feels like it’s what you want, and now that we work together daily, things need to be my way sometimes – and that’s only at night.'” Luckily, their early morning work schedule on Live has unintentionally solved the problem. “This job has almost turned him off from wanting intimacy in the mornings during the week, which is amazing!”

Mark made a playful, slightly suggestive comment on a photo Kelly posted. She was wearing a sparkly rainbow sweatshirt that said “More Glitter, Less Twitter,” and he jokingly questioned whether the first letter of a word on the shirt was a ‘G’ or a ‘C,’ pretending to ask for a friend.

Kelly Clarkson jokingly reminisced about the fun she had conceiving her son Joaquin when her husband, Mark, posted a tribute to him on his 18th birthday. Mark’s post about Joaquin being ‘all grown up’ prompted Kelly to comment about how much fun making him was. She then playfully revealed that Joaquin was conceived during a trip to Montreal.

During a September 2022 episode of Watch What Happens Live, Andy Cohen playfully questioned his friend about where he and Mark had been intimate, playing a game called “Have You Schtupped There?” The answer was a clear yes to several locations. They’d had encounters in a public bathroom, while filming All My Children, and even on a boat – a boat Cohen jokingly pointed out used to frequent the area near his home.
Although Cohen teased that their public displays of affection suggested they’d been intimate everywhere, Kelly revealed a few places remained unexplored. They hadn’t (yet) gotten intimate in a car, a department store dressing room, or on the set of their talk show.

Kelly admitted she always wanted to look her best, especially during video calls with her then-boyfriend, Mark. During the pandemic, while she was in New York City for work and he was filming in Vancouver, they developed playful and inventive ways to connect. She even revealed on her podcast in March 2023 that she’d prop her laptop up on a ladder during FaceTime calls to create a more flattering angle, hiding the effects of gravity.

Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe what Kelly said! She was talking about the whole Amy and T.J. drama, you know, the GMA3 thing, and she made this hilarious joke about her and Mark! Apparently, now that Mark is co-hosting Live with me, we’ve basically sworn off any romance! She actually said we’ve taken a ‘vow of chastity’ because ABC really doesn’t want another scandal with co-hosts hooking up. She even promised, and I quote, ‘no banging on the side!’ I’m obsessed with how self-aware she is, and honestly, it’s just too funny! I’m living for this whole situation.

After their youngest son, Joaquin, went to college in 2021, Kelly and Mark adjusted to having an empty house. As Kelly explained to TopMob News in June 2023, they fell into a comfortable routine of moving freely around the house, even leaving doors open. But things changed when their daughter, Lola, returned from London, and they had to start locking up again. Joaquin’s summer break brought the same situation. When Kelly’s parents came to stay with them in New York, the lack of privacy meant they had to find clever ways to get some alone time. “You wouldn’t believe what we did,” she joked.

When Lola moved home to finish college, she started walking in on her parents without knocking, which they wanted to stop. In typical Mark fashion, he playfully warned Lola about what she might find if she continued to enter their room unexpectedly.
During a January 2023 episode of Live, Mark joked, “Be warned, Lola Consuelos. ‘Cause this week’s freaky week, isn’t it?” Kelly laughed and asked why this week was special, and Mark simply replied with a smile, “It is now.”
They explained that Mark had talked to Lola after she repeatedly barged into their bedroom. He told her, “I don’t want you to take this the wrong way. I’m so happy you’re home, we’ve missed you, you’re the heart of this family, and you’re fantastic. But you really need to knock.”
