New information has emerged about the death of Robert Carradine.

I was so incredibly saddened to hear about the passing of the wonderful actor known from Lizzie McGuire. It was just confirmed by the Los Angeles Medical Examiner – reports shared with TopMob News show he tragically took his own life on February 23rd, at the age of 71. It’s just heartbreaking.

Robert’s family has confirmed his death, stating that the actor, known for his role in Revenge of the Nerds, had been living with bipolar disorder for almost two decades.

I’m just heartbroken. His family said they hope his story can help people talk more openly about mental health, and honestly, that’s exactly what he would have wanted. They’re asking for space to grieve, which of course they deserve, and I just want everyone to be kind and understanding right now. It’s just… such a huge loss, and I’m sending all my love and compassion to them.

Robert’s brother, Keith Carradine, shared that the family wanted people to understand the challenges Robert dealt with, emphasizing that there’s nothing to be ashamed of when it comes to bipolar disorder.

Keith shared that his brother sadly lost his battle with an illness. He wants to remember and honor his brother’s strength and beautiful spirit. He described him as incredibly talented and said they would deeply miss him. Keith will find comfort in remembering his brother’s humor, wisdom, and unwavering acceptance of others, saying that’s simply who he was.

Robert’s daughter, Ever, shared a heartfelt message on Instagram after her father’s death. She wrote that anyone who knew him would agree he was always a dependable and supportive presence in their lives. Ever’s mother is Susan Snyder.

I had a pretty unusual upbringing, growing up in Laurel Canyon in the 70s and 80s with just my dad. Honestly, it wasn’t the most stable environment you could imagine, but somehow, I feel like I turned out alright. And you know what? Whenever people ask me how I stayed so… normal, I always say it’s all thanks to my dad. He really was the one who kept me grounded.

“Rest easy, dad,” she added. “I love you the most.”

Robert, father to Marika and Ian with Edith Mani, was also fondly remembered by his Lizzie McGuire colleagues, including Hilary Duff.

“This is really painful,” Hilary shared on Instagram. She was struggling with the news about an old friend and fondly remembered the McGuire family’s kindness, especially how much she felt loved by her on-screen parents.

She said she would always be thankful for what had been done. She was heartbroken to hear Bobby had been struggling and felt immense sympathy for him, his family, and all those who cared about him.
