Logitech is a leading maker of gaming gear, and their Astro headsets have been a popular part of their product line since Logitech bought the Astro brand in 2017. Astro has been a well-known name in gaming since the Xbox 360 era, and is still a top pick for many gamers worldwide. If you’re looking for a new gaming headset, Astro is definitely a brand worth considering.

Astro’s new A20X Wireless Headset is a significant improvement over their previous models. I’ve used a lot of headsets in the last ten years, and this one is by far the most comfortable. Plus, it’s incredibly easy to use with all your devices.

PlaySync Is a Game-Changer

The biggest improvement in the A20X Wireless Headset compared to older Astro headsets is the PlaySync feature. It allows you to easily switch between devices – like a PlayStation 5 and an Xbox Series X – with just a button press on the headset. The PlaySync hub is small and can connect to two devices simultaneously. I connected mine to both my PS5 and Xbox Series X, and switching between them was simple: I just pressed a button on the headset to connect it to the USB port linked to the console I wanted to use.

Although it seems simple, the ability to quickly switch between consoles is new for wireless gaming headsets. Previously, users could only do this easily with wired headsets that plug directly into controllers. This feature makes the Astro A20X a top wireless headset choice, especially for gamers who play on various platforms often.

The A20X works with almost any gaming system, giving you lots of flexibility in how you connect it. I used it with current-generation consoles, but it also works great with PCs, PS4, and Xbox One. It doesn’t currently support the Nintendo Switch 2, but that’s expected to change soon.

Comfortable Design Makes It Easy to Use for Hours at a Time

I’ve often found gaming headsets uncomfortable, either because of their design or how heavy they are. This usually meant I stopped using them soon after purchasing. Thankfully, the A20X is different – it’s actually comfortable to wear.

I was immediately struck by how lightweight the A20X headset is—it weighs just a little over 10 ounces, making it the lightest one I’ve ever used. This made it comfortable to wear for long periods without needing to take breaks. Unlike other headsets that have given me headaches or discomfort after extended use, the A20X never caused any of those problems.

The memory foam around the earcups of the A20X headset actually gets more comfortable the longer you wear it. At first, I wasn’t impressed with the material and didn’t like how it felt against my head. But after using it for a while, I noticed it started to mold to my ears and fit much more comfortably. While the foam isn’t super soft, it’s clearly well-made and is a major reason why the A20X feels so cozy.

High Quality Audio on All Fronts

A comfortable headset with extra features isn’t useful if the sound quality isn’t good. Thankfully, the A20X delivers excellent audio through both its earphones and microphone.

I tested the A20X headset with many different games, across various platforms, and the audio quality was consistently excellent. From the immersive sounds of horror games to the fast-paced action of shooters, the A20X delivered clear, high-quality audio without any muddiness. It’s a noticeable improvement over my older headsets, which were released a few years ago.

The A20X headset has convenient buttons on the side that let you easily adjust the volume between game sound and party chat. You won’t need to go into your console or PC settings to make these adjustments – just use the buttons on the headset while you’re playing. I found this incredibly useful, and while it seems like a small feature, it really improves the overall experience.

I really like that the microphone on this headset can be detached. I prefer not having a mic hanging down when I’m not using it for voice chat. The audio quality is surprisingly good – I recorded some samples on my computer and it was almost as clear as some of my professional podcast microphones. While I wouldn’t use it as my primary recording mic, it’s more than good enough to ensure your voice comes through crystal clear to your teammates.

Customization Options Put the A20X Over the Top

Honestly, what makes the Astro A20X the best headset I’ve used in a long time is how much you can customize it. If you’re like me and love messing with the lights on your gear, this headset is amazing. It has a ridiculous 16 million colors to choose from! It’s the first Logitech headset with what they call “LightSync RGB,” and it’s what lets you get that many options. Turning on the RGB does cut down the battery life to around 40 hours – it normally lasts about 90 – but even with that, it’s still way more customization than any other headset I’ve tried.

The A20X also includes Bluetooth, letting you use it as regular wireless headphones. You can easily connect it to your phone to enjoy music or podcasts. This added functionality was a pleasant surprise and makes the A20X even more versatile.

As a gamer, I have to say the Astro A20X is seriously impressive. It delivers amazing sound quality that really enhances my gaming experience. Plus, it’s incredibly comfortable, and the PlaySync feature is a game-changer. Honestly, if you play games on multiple systems like I do, I think this is the best wireless gaming headset you can buy right now.
