Fans of survival games have had a lot to enjoy recently, with new titles offering everything from scary experiences to relaxing gameplay. 2026 looks to be another great year, especially with popular Early Access games like Enshrouded finally launching their full versions. Now, another highly anticipated survival game with a fresh idea has announced it will be released this year.
I’ve been following Solarpunk for a while now – it was first announced way back in 2023, but apparently, the developers have been working on it even longer! From the moment I saw the first trailer, I was hooked, and it quickly became one of the most wishlisted games on Steam. It’s awesome to see so many cozy and survival game fans getting excited about it too. And the best news? Cyberwave and rokaplay just announced that Solarpunk is finally coming out on June 8th! They also confirmed it’s not just for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, but it’ll be launching on the Nintendo Switch 2 as well!
Solarpunk Takes Cozy Survival to the Skies with Airships and Floating Islands on June 8th
Survival games are more popular than ever, and while there are many options, the best ones focus on core features. Solarpunk seems to be doing just that, offering the crafting, farming, exploration, and base-building that fans expect. Its charming 3D graphics and beautiful open world – a series of islands in the sky – give it a unique, optimistic, and futuristic feel, making it one of the most anticipated new survival games. Since its announcement in 2023, Solarpunk has consistently been among the top 30 most wishlisted games on Steam, and it’s clear many other survival game fans are excited to play it.
Solarpunk will let you play alone or team up with friends in co-op mode. You’ll be able to build a base either floating in the sky or on the ground, growing crops, raising animals, and powering everything with renewable energy. To explore the world, you’ll need an airship – and each player can build their own custom vessel to travel between islands, collect resources, and discover what the game has to offer. If you loved the trailer for Solarpunk, the good news is you won’t have to wait much longer to play! This futuristic “calm survival” game comes out on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch on June 8th. And unlike a lot of survival games these days, Solarpunk won’t have an Early Access period – the complete game will be available from the start.
