Looking for something new to play on Xbox? Here are 5 of the best new ID@Xbox titles from the past month ✨

Beyond the holiday feast, Xbox indie game fans have plenty to enjoy this month! November brought a huge wave of new games – almost 80! – so you’re sure to find something new to love. We’ve highlighted some of our top picks to help you get started.

Demonschool

Demonschool isn’t subtle about its inspirations; it wholeheartedly embraces the classic horror style that defines it. This role-playing game, featuring strategic battles, takes cues from 1970s Italian horror films and iconic horror manga, introducing players to Faye and her group of unusual friends.

Demonschool takes place inside a made-up game console, and its story and gameplay are built around the console’s limitations. Players must use strategy and positioning to fight terrifying monsters that exist between the human and demon realms.

In Demonschool, players take on the role of Faye and her team, balancing monster battles with attending classes to improve their skills. The game features over 14 unique characters to interact with and form bonds with. As a substantial RPG, your choices matter and will determine the game’s outcome, offering a lot of gameplay to enjoy during the colder months.

Demonschool is available now on Xbox Series X|S.

Voidtrain

As a researcher studying social connection through gaming, I’ve noticed people really crave togetherness when the weather turns colder, but actually getting together can be tough. That’s where cooperative multiplayer games become so valuable – they let us connect with loved ones even when we’re physically apart. I recently had a chance to explore HypeTrain Digital’s new game, Voidtrain, and it’s designed to do just that. It puts you and up to three other players in the roles of a train crew working on a train that travels between dimensions.

Players begin a journey in a strange new world with just a small trolley and a long, winding track leading into the unknown. They’ll need to learn to navigate and survive by exploring floating islands, solving puzzles, and fighting off dangerous creatures. Successfully doing so will reward them with resources to upgrade their trolley into a powerful, multi-car voidtrain with improved engines.

Players gather resources by venturing into space while tethered to a train with a rope, allowing them to collect wood, metal, and other salvage. Be careful though – space sharks roam the void! You can customize the difficulty in Voidtrain’s settings, adjusting how much damage enemies deal to you and your train, whether you prefer a more relaxed experience or a thrilling challenge.

Voidtrain is now available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox PC, and via Xbox Cloud Gaming. Plus, with Play Anywhere support, you can even play it on handheld devices like the ROG Ally X. If you’re an Xbox Game Pass subscriber, you can jump into this interdimensional space train adventure for free – and get your friends to join you too!

Dusk

Everyone loves a fast-paced, retro-style shooter, and Dusk delivers! Created by David Szymanski and released in 2018, this game quickly gained a dedicated fanbase. Set in the remote countryside of the northeastern US, Dusk throws you into intense battles against mystical cultists and otherworldly creatures. You’ll use a variety of weapons – from sickles and swords to crossbows and rifles – as you fight through three unique campaign chapters.

The influential first-person shooter, often considered the originator of the ‘boomer shooter’ genre, has finally been released on Xbox after more than seven years. New Blood Interactive CEO Dave Oshrey told Jez Corden that Xbox Play Anywhere and support for handheld gaming were key factors in bringing this classic game to the Xbox platform.

To mark the launch of Xbox, a new endless survival mode has been added to the game. Fans of the original Halo might recognize the map! You can currently play Dusk on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox PC in stunning 4K resolution with smooth 120fps gameplay. It’s also been optimized for handheld devices and supports Xbox Play Anywhere, letting you play seamlessly across devices.

Winter Burrow

Imagine being a tiny field mouse, happily gathering wood and ‘cooking’ insects in the snow – that’s the charming world of Winter Burrow! I’ve been eagerly awaiting this cozy indie game since I first heard about it, and it’s easily one of my most anticipated releases of 2025. The game follows a little mouse who comes home to find his childhood burrow rundown and in need of repair.

As winter’s harshness sets in, a small mouse has a lot on his paws: fixing up his house, knitting warm sweaters, and embarking on a quest to find his missing Aunt.

Winter Burrow is a unique survival game that blends cozy and challenging gameplay. It lets you experience life as a mouse and shape your own story at a comfortable pace.

As a researcher, I’ve been looking into new game releases, and I recently discovered Winter Burrow. It’s a game created by Pine Creek Games and published by Noodlecake, and it’s currently available on a wide range of Xbox platforms – that includes Xbox One, Series X|S, Xbox PC, and through Xbox Cloud Gaming. Plus, it works with Xbox-compatible handhelds and supports the Xbox Play Anywhere feature. For those with an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass subscription, it’s included as part of those services.

Dark Light

Looking for a tough but rewarding game this month? Check out Dark Light by Mirari&Co. It’s a unique blend of cyberpunk style, pixel art, and challenging gameplay inspired by metroidvania and soulslike genres. You play as a powerful cybernetic warrior, a Dark Hunter, on a mission to close off the Dark Void and protect humanity from the terrifying creatures inside. It features quick, action-packed combat.

In Dark Light, you can customize your character with over a hundred cybernetic enhancements to tackle a dangerous world. Explore six unique and hazardous environments, battle 14 powerful bosses, and overcome waves of challenging enemies. Dark Light is a visually stunning but unforgiving game, now available on Xbox Series X|S and PC with Xbox Play Anywhere support.
