Lost Cartoon Network Movie Returns Thanks to Franchise Revival

Cartoon Network is known for its animated series, but it also has a collection of films based on popular shows like The Powerpuff Girls, Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends, Dexter’s Laboratory, Teen Titans, and The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy. With the rise of streaming, it’s become harder for fans to find these movies. However, one film from a well-loved Cartoon Network series will be airing again next month, helping to revive the franchise.

Get ready for more Regular Show! Starting May 11th, Regular Show: The Lost Tapes will be on Cartoon Network, bringing back Mordecai, Rigby, and the whole gang. Before that, Regular Show: The Movie returns to the network on May 10th at 9:15 AM Eastern – it hasn’t been on TV since 2016 and is no longer available on streaming services. You can still rent or buy it digitally, but this is a chance for cable viewers to watch it for free. A marathon of episodes will also air on May 6th to kick things off!

What Was The Regular Show Movie?

If you somehow missed it, the Regular Show movie was basically a super-long episode that really explored Mordecai and Rigby’s whole story – their past, where they were at the time, and even a glimpse of what could happen in the future! It came out right before season six, and it showed a possible future where Mordecai and Rigby weren’t friends at all, and to make things even crazier, a huge universal threat was messing with all of time. It was classic Regular Show – taking totally normal, everyday stuff and throwing it into this unbelievably wild situation where the fate of everything rested on the park crew!

The movie Regular Show: The Movie was available to stream for a short time, but it was removed from HBO Max when they took down a lot of their original animated content. The TV series itself ended up on Hulu, but the movie hasn’t been available on any streaming service for years. Now that the show is making a comeback next month, fans are hoping the movie will be added to a platform soon.

The new series, Regular Show: The Lost Tapes, will reunite fans with the popular characters from the original Cartoon Network show after a long hiatus. Creator J.G. Quintel is returning to lead the project and reprise his role as Mordecai, and most of the original voice actors will be back too. While the original Regular Show had a definite ending, this spin-off will explore previously untold, and likely very strange, adventures of Mordecai and Rigby in the past.
