Lost PS1 Game Has Re-Released Fully Remastered

For 26 years, this PlayStation game was only available in Japan. Now, it’s finally coming to Western audiences this month. It was common for games to launch exclusively in Japan during that era, but many fans were frustrated when they never became available elsewhere. Recently, developers and publishers have been addressing this by re-releasing older titles through remasters or services like Nintendo Online, and that’s how this game is finally getting its Western debut.

Okay, so XSEED Games just dropped Milano’s Odd Job Collection, and I’m super excited! It’s a remastered version of this old PlayStation 1 game that never actually came out here in the West until now. You play as an 11-year-old kid named Milano, and basically spend the summer doing a bunch of odd jobs. Each job is like a different mini-game, and apparently, it was a pretty big deal back in the day when it first came out on the PS1.

This remastered version stays true to the original game while adding some significant enhancements. Players now have a complete English language experience with both text and voiceovers, and the original Japanese audio is still available with English subtitles. The remaster, titled Milano’s Odd Job Collection, also includes faster loading times, the ability to save at any point, and a rewind feature, all designed to make the game more enjoyable for today’s players.

Milano’s Odd Job Collection is a perfect game for players who enjoy relaxing experiences. It focuses on a healthy work-life balance, where the challenges aren’t overly stressful. Players can unwind by decorating Milano’s house, playing with her uncle’s cat, looking at the stars, or enjoying the things they’ve bought with the money they’ve earned.

Milano’s Odd Job Collection features a variety of fun mini-games for each job you take on, like being a nurse, delivering pizzas, or working on a fruit farm. The game has been visually updated with charming 32-bit graphics that will remind players of classic PlayStation 1 games.

Originally a Japan-only PlayStation 1 game from 1999, Milano’s Odd Job Collection is now available on modern platforms! A remastered version launched on December 9th for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC, and costs $14.99 digitally. Nintendo Switch owners will also receive a free upgrade pack on December 22nd in North and South America and Europe.

With the growth of the gaming industry, we’re seeing more and more remasters and remakes of older games. While not every previously unavailable game gets a new release, titles like Milano’s Odd Job Collection are examples of how this trend brings classic games to new players. Games that were once only playable on older consoles, such as Final Fantasy Tactics and Trails in the Sky, are now available to a wider audience, and we can anticipate even more of these updated versions in the years to come.
