Love Island 2026 has confirmed a major twist for the upcoming series 13 launch tonight (1 June).
The first episode of the new season, hosted by Maya Jama, will air in the evening for the very first time.
The show is usually filmed ahead of time, and each episode shows everything that happened over the course of a single day.
ITV also shared a photo of Maya Jama next to the famous Love Island entrance, but the picture was taken in near darkness.
ITV has announced that a group of new contestants will make a stylish entrance into the Villa with a special welcome party. Viewers can look forward to the usual drama this season, including unexpected guests, changing alliances, and immediate connections.
The shake-up news comes just days after the OG line-up was revealed.
This year’s competition features a diverse group of people, including a student, a teacher, a model, and someone who makes videos of properties.
Lewis Evans, the executive producer, recently suggested a surprising and unexpected twist would happen in the first episode of the new season, as he told TopMob and other media outlets.
He hinted they’ll be building on something popular this year, and that the first episode will feature a significant change. He couldn’t share details just yet.
This is a first for Love Island. We’re trying something completely new, and we’re hoping it works out well, he said.
He also teased that there’ll be more surprises in store for viewers as the series progresses.
Okay, so things are definitely shaking up this season. The producers are promising a whole new level of drama, and it’s not just the usual relationship stuff. They’ve redesigned the villa with more beds, which basically means more new contestants are going to be dropped in to stir things up. Get ready for some serious chaos – it feels like they’re actively trying to break these couples apart!
Love Island returns on Monday 1 June at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
