James Barker is being remembered by his loved ones.
After the death of Love Island USA producer at age 40, his partner, Adam Roth, shared a heartfelt tribute, highlighting the producer’s contributions to both his local community and the entertainment world.
“James was the most important person in my life,” Roth shared with People magazine on June 15th. “He made everything brighter and happier.”

I always admired James’ dedication to up-and-coming musicians – he really championed them, even finding ways to showcase their talent on Love Island. It’s funny how things work out; we actually connected at a Billie Eilish concert, and honestly, live music was a huge part of our life together. We were always going to gigs and discovering new artists.
He shared his profound sadness, saying he was incredibly proud of the individual’s accomplishments and grateful for the supportive team they had. He described the loss as devastating.
Mike Barker passed away after a sudden health issue while filming season eight of Love Island USA in Fiji, according to a statement released June 15 by ITV America and Peacock.
James’s sudden death has deeply affected everyone involved with Love Island USA, as well as the entire teams at ITV and Peacock. He was a much-loved and respected part of our work family, and his kindness, skill, and commitment will be remembered by all who knew and worked with him.
Barker was a key part of the Love Island USA team for several years. They started in 2020 as a story producer and eventually moved up to become an executive producer.
I was so thrilled to hear that Barker really enjoyed being involved with the show, and it meant a lot to see them celebrating its success during the seventh season back in June 2025. It was a fantastic moment for all of us fans!
He shared on Instagram that as soon as he found out Love Island was coming to the US, he knew he wanted to be involved. Now, six years later, Love Island USA is incredibly popular, and he says he loves his job more than ever. He congratulated everyone who has worked on the show, both in the past and present, celebrating their success.
