Love Island USA Star Bryce’s Past as Tumblr Model Revealed

Fans of Love Island USA season eight are discovering that Bryce Dettloff used to be a popular model on Tumblr in the mid-2010s, as he gets to know Trinity Tatum. This explains why some viewers recognize him!

Old photos from his popular Tumblr account are resurfacing now that he’s looking for love on a dating show. He actually built a following way back in 2016 on the blogging site, and the pictures – featuring classic Tumblr aesthetics like pensive poses, flowing hair, and super-skinny jeans – were very popular, racking up hundreds and thousands of likes and shares.

He’s openly embraced his past, still sharing photos from 2015 and later on his Instagram. During that time, he was balancing personal snapshots with professional work, including modeling for brands like Calvin Klein, DKNY, and Stuart Weitzman.

In 2017, Bryce’s photos gained popularity on blogs, and he unexpectedly became a popular ‘face claim’ on platforms like Tumblr and Wattpad. This meant writers were using his image as the visual inspiration for their original characters.

As for Bryce is doing now? Aside from finding love in Fiji, being a DJ has been his calling.

Before the season started, he shared in a video that he’s held all sorts of jobs. He’s worked as a waiter, in construction, and pretty much any kind of odd job you can think of.

But his current profession doesn’t seem to help him in the romance department.

He admitted that people often get the wrong impression of him at first. “I know I seem like a typical playboy – the model-DJ type living in LA – but I’m genuinely looking for a relationship,” he explained. “I’m starting to feel old, I’m turning 30 soon, and the younger generation is even calling me ‘unc’ now.”

For Bryce, there’s a very specific person he has in mind when he’s looking for love.

It’s probably because I was raised by incredible women – my grandma basically raised me.
