Luke Evans stars in exclusive first look trailer for ‘high-stakes’ new TV thriller from best-selling author

ITV released a thrilling first look at its new series, ‘The Party.’ Adapted by acclaimed writer Sarah Solemani and featuring Luke Evans, the trailer hints at a dramatic story to come.

TopMob has obtained exclusive footage of a visibly injured Evans entering a police station, where he’s then questioned about the events of the previous night.

The scene cuts to a memory of the opulent party, and then Sarah Solemani’s character, who also runs the show, delivers the line: “Just awful people doing awful things.”

A gun shot then rings out…

ITV revealed last year that they’ve ordered a five-episode series based on Elizabeth Day’s novel, with Evans in the leading role.

The book is a suspenseful story about obsession and betrayal that unfolds during a single dinner party. The series focuses on the close but complicated friendship between Martin Gilmour and Ben Fitzmaurice, a wealthy politician played by Tom Cullen, known for his role in ‘The Gold’.

When the series was announced, Evans shared his excitement, saying he immediately recognized Elizabeth Day’s novel as having great potential for television. He expressed how fulfilling it is to now be involved in bringing ‘The Party’ to life, both as an actor and a producer with Stoic Productions.

Sarah Solemani did a fantastic job adapting this story, really bringing out all the emotions and suspense. It’s a privilege to be working with World Productions and ITV again, especially with such a talented group of actors. ‘The Party’ is a compelling look at themes like loyalty, social class, and the secrets we keep, and I’m excited for viewers to see it.

The series follows Martin, who grows up with his mother, Sylvia (played by Joanna Scanlan). He earns a scholarship to a prestigious boarding school where he befriends Ben and the Fitzmaurice family. They offer him the sense of belonging he’s always wanted, and the two boys form a close, lasting connection.

The story jumps between the immediate aftermath of a shocking party and the subsequent police investigation. We also see glimpses into the past, learning about Martin and Ben’s time together in school, at university, and during their younger days partying in London.
