Luna Abyss Team Has Been Laid Off, Says Kwalee Labs CEO

We enjoyed Luna Abyss and thought it had some really interesting concepts. Our review suggested continuing past the slow beginning, because the game improves significantly as you play.

Honestly, I was really surprised to hear that the team behind the game got laid off from Kwalee Labs. The CEO, Hollie Emery, announced it, saying it was something they couldn’t prevent. It’s a bummer for those nine talented people, especially with the job market being so shaky right now – you see what’s happening over at Xbox, it’s a bit scary!

While the response has had some mixed feelings, let’s focus on the good – we’re thankful for how players have received the game and appreciate all the effort that went into creating it, especially considering how long it took to finish.

We were thrilled by the amazing support from both people in the gaming industry and journalists. Even though making Luna Abyss had its difficulties, it’s been the most rewarding experience of our careers, and we’re so proud it’s finally released! Thank you to everyone who believed in us.

It’s disappointing to see Kwalee move on, especially since they had a strong start and could have really expanded on their success with future projects. We hope the team behind Luna Abyss quickly finds its footing. You can play the game now on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
