MachineGames’ “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle” has been a hit on every platform, even the PS5, and just released its first story expansion titled “The Order of Giants“. Beyond this, they’ve added more campaigns for re-releases of games like “Quake, Quake 2,” and “Doom“, all of which have garnered significant praise.
At one time, the game “Wolfenstein” was well-known for being a modern sequel to id Software’s iconic shooter series. The latest title in the series, “Wolfenstein: Youngblood,” marked its conclusion (ignoring “Cyberpilot”), but the team behind it, MachineGames, may not have finished with the Wolfenstein series altogether. In a recent documentary by noclip, co-founder and studio director Jerk Gustafsson mentioned that they had always viewed the project as a trilogy.
During B.J.’s initial weeks at ID when we were plotting out “New Order,” we already had a clear intention for his character, wondering about what would transpire in the second and third installments. I believe it’s worth mentioning because, ideally, our journey with Wolfenstein isn’t over – there’s still a story left to be told.
In 2023, there was a hint suggesting that a new first-person game could be under development, but no formal confirmation has been made yet. With whispers of additional Indiana Jones games on the horizon, it’s possible that MachineGames may postpone their return to Wolfenstein for some time. However, never count anything out and keep an eye out for further developments.
In the meantime, check out our review of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on PS5.
