Madelyn Cline and Lukas Gage Have Best Reaction to Dating Rumors

Madelyn Cline and Lukas Gage are toning down romance speculation.

Madelyn Cline, known for her role in Outer Banks, and Lukas Gage, from The White Lotus, jokingly addressed rumors that they were dating. The speculation started after a gossip Instagram account labeled them a “new couple” and shared a casual photo of the two. The picture showed Madelyn with smudged makeup and Lukas with very shiny skin.

Madelyn commented on February 2nd, saying “OMG, you’re the love of my life, but I think there are better photos of me out there.”

Lukas confirmed they both had IPL therapy – a non-invasive cosmetic treatment that boosts collagen – earlier in the day, as he explained in a follow-up comment.

Madelyn, 28, explained that she attempted to hide the temporary redness on her face with concealer and powder. She admitted, “I really have no idea how to contour with makeup.”

Madelyn and Lukas are just friends now, but that wasn’t always the case. Madelyn, who has dated Chase Stokes and Pete Davidson, once confessed she had a strong crush on Lukas, 30, when they first worked together on the 2021 movie What Breaks the Ice.

During a December conversation with Interview magazine, she told the actor she found him hilarious, which led Lukas to playfully call himself “such an idiot.”

But these days, Madelyn consider him to be more of her “Gemini sister.”

Lukas confirmed their lasting bond, saying, “I truly am, for life.” He and hairstylist Chris Appleton were married for seven months before ending their relationship in November 2023. Lukas also expressed his gratitude, adding, “You’re a very loyal friend. You’ve always supported me.”

He continued, “You are a friend that does things for other people.”

During the interview, the pair also talked about how they sometimes get carried away and become very silly when they’re joking with each other.

Lukas playfully referenced Madelyn’s upcoming slasher film, I Know What You Did Last Summer, by asking her what she did last summer. Madelyn jokingly replied, “Not you, thankfully!”

Lukas jokingly added, “That lavender marriage is going down.”

Emma Watson has revealed she had a childhood crush on her Harry Potter co-star, Tom Felton (who played Draco Malfoy)! During the 20th anniversary special, she admitted to falling for him while filming Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. She used to check the daily call sheet, excited whenever his name (and number 7) appeared. While Tom saw her more like a little sister, Emma’s confession sparked a wave of fans hoping the two might become a couple.

However, Emma has clarified that they are just close friends. In an interview with British Vogue, she said they still talk regularly and find the fan speculation “sweet,” effectively shutting down any dating rumors.

Remember how Ross and Rachel seemed like they could have been a real-life couple? During the Friends reunion on HBO Max, Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer – who played the iconic couple – revealed they actually had a crush on each other during the first season of the show. David explained that while they were both interested, one of them was always already in a relationship, so they never acted on it, respecting those boundaries. Jennifer recalled jokingly saying she worried their first kiss would be on national television – and that’s exactly what happened, during a scene in the coffee shop! Instead of pursuing a romance themselves, they put all their feelings into portraying Ross and Rachel’s relationship.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet are one of the most beloved on-screen couples ever, and fans have been hoping they’d become a real-life couple since their 1996 film, Titanic (despite the famous door situation!). They’ve remained close friends ever since, with Kate recently sharing that they share a lifelong bond. From red carpet appearances in 1998 to DiCaprio sweetly supporting Winslet during her emotional Golden Globes speech in 2009, it’s clear their connection has only deepened over the last twenty-plus years.

The intense chemistry between the actors in the 2019 film A Star Is Born, and the attention they received during interviews and events, led many fans to overlook the fact that both were already in relationships at the time – Bradley Cooper with Irina Shayk, and Lady Gaga with Christian Carano. Despite this, Gaga later shared that she felt an immediate and strong connection with Cooper, saying she felt it “the second that I saw him.” This closeness was particularly evident during their performance of their award-winning song, “Shallow,” at the 2019 Oscars, which took place shortly after Gaga ended her engagement.

Following their performance, Lady Gaga quickly dismissed rumors of a romance with Bradley Cooper, telling Jimmy Kimmel they intentionally created the impression of being in love. Cooper, who split from Irina Shayk later that year, didn’t directly address the speculation until November 2021, when he told The Hollywood Reporter that their performance was acting. He explained that their characters in the film fall in love during that scene, and the intense moment on stage in front of a large audience would have felt awkward if they hadn’t played it that way.

For decades, rumors have circulated about a possible romance between Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock after they starred together in 1994’s Speed. However, Sandra has consistently denied they were ever a couple. In an interview with Esquire, she playfully responded to the rumors, saying, “Nope…but who knows?” She explained that Keanu is the kind of person who remains friends with all his past partners, and she wonders if they could have made it work if circumstances were different. Ultimately, she’s happy they’ve been able to maintain a close friendship over the years, admiring him more and more as time goes on.

The pair also starred together in 2006’s The Lake House and remain close friends. Sandra particularly appreciates Keanu’s ability to listen. She recalled a story from about a year after filming Speed, when she casually mentioned she’d never tried champagne and truffles. A few days later, Keanu surprised her by hand-delivering both, along with flowers, simply saying he thought she might like to try them.

Fans love seeing Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling together on screen, having starred as romantic leads in three movies, including La La Land.

Although they’ve never been a couple in real life, working together has created a strong connection between them. At a 2018 film festival, Emma shared how much Ryan means to her and how he’s influenced her life and career, calling him a “dear, wonderful friend.” She admitted she couldn’t imagine her life without him, adding, “He’s so special, it makes me emotional.”

Before La La Land came out in 2016, Emma playfully joked that Ryan had a “restraining order” against her due to the number of films they’d made together.

Despite the joke, Ryan said he enjoys working with Emma, explaining that their familiarity brings out the best in both of them because they can support each other in a way that wouldn’t be possible with someone they didn’t know well.

Oh my gosh, Jim and Pam! They’re EVERYTHING. Seriously, watching them fall in love on The Office was the best, and I was so invested in them getting together for all nine seasons. It’s kind of heartbreaking to know that John Krasinski and Jenna Fischer weren’t actually a couple IRL, but Jenna once said something that totally blew my mind! She explained that there was a part of her that was Pam, and a part of John that was Jim, and those parts genuinely loved each other! She even said he was like a spouse to her for a long time, a partner, and they’ll always be close because of it. John later said she got misquoted and felt bad about it, but still…can you imagine?! It just proves how amazing their chemistry was. It’s like she said, we’ll always have the teapot, and honestly, that’s enough for me.

Bradley Cooper has faced romantic rumors with co-stars before Lady Gaga. His chemistry with Jennifer Lawrence in films like Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle led to years of speculation. Back in 2015, Howard Stern even directly asked him when he and Lawrence would become a couple. Cooper quickly shut down the idea, stating they simply weren’t that way with each other. Similarly, at the 2013 Golden Globes, when asked if he and Lawrence were dating, he emphatically denied it, calling the question “very funny.”

Though Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson starred together in the 2006 romantic comedy How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and fans hoped they’d become a couple in real life, they never dated. In a 2020 interview with Howard Stern, Matthew explained that he generally avoids dating costars, preferring to keep things professional. He admitted there might have been some mutual crushes over the years, but they always maintained a professional relationship.

And with that, the chance for their love to blossom died, just like that love fern.

These top-tier friends have amazing chemistry on screen – think Ocean’s Eleven – and it’s just as strong off camera. They’re always laughing in interviews, giving each other glowing praise, and George Clooney even lets the Roberts-Moder family use his beautiful Lake Como home for their anniversary! It’s a testament to their close, purely platonic friendship.

Every New Year’s Eve, people often wonder if best friends and co-hosts of CNN’s Live From Times Square, Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper, have ever been more than just friends. Andy addressed this on Howard Stern’s radio show, explaining that a romantic connection simply wasn’t part of their relationship. He said they’re just close friends who know each other too well to be attracted to each other that way.

It’s amusing to learn they actually were set up on a blind date over 25 years ago! Anderson recalled on The Tonight Show that people often try to match up gay friends, and he immediately knew during a phone call to arrange the date that he wouldn’t be going out with Andy.

Andy apparently committed a dating “cardinal sin” by asking about Anderson’s mother, Gloria Vanderbilt. Andy jokingly admitted he was excited to date someone from the famous Vanderbilt family, but it seems the conversation ended the date before it began.

Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt had a great time filming the 2009 movie 500 Days of Summer, but Joseph later said in a 2012 Playboy interview that dating her would have been awkward, even though they’d been friends for a decade. They both find it amusing that fans often wish they were a couple, and agree it is funny given their long friendship.

Before Zac Efron officially dated his High School Musical co-star Vanessa Hudgens, many people thought he was involved with their close friend, Ashley. Their chemistry in a 2006 guest appearance on The Suite Life of Zack and Cody only added to the rumors.

Despite the speculation, Zac and Ashley have remained close friends ever since. Ashley often refers to him as her “brother” or “best friend,” though she jokingly named him her worst onscreen kiss in an interview with Elle.

She explained that it felt awkward because they were so close, and he was used to a different style of acting on a show geared toward older audiences. She even recalled having to tell him to stop trying to kiss her with his tongue, reminding him that it was Disney Channel and they didn’t kiss like that on the show.

Ashley added that their long history and close relationship made the experience particularly strange. “We’d already done a movie, I’d known him for years…that’s why it was the worst, we’re just too close,” she said.

Though their characters Chad and Taylor were a couple on High School Musical, Corbin Bleu and Monique Coleman remained close friends after leaving the Disney series.

The pair recently shared the screen again in the 2021 Lifetime Christmas movie, A Christmas Dance Reunion. Corbin shared on Instagram that working and dancing with Monique after 13 years felt like “coming home,” and that starring in a Lifetime Christmas movie had always been a dream, especially with someone he considers one of his favorite people.

Monique is eager to collaborate with her “best friend” again, telling People magazine that they have a special chemistry, similar to iconic movie couples like Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan, Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, and Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling. She believes they have the potential for a similar on-screen connection and hopes to explore that in future projects.

Oh my gosh, can you believe it? Mulder and Scully – David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson – apparently hated each other while filming The X-Files! I was absolutely shocked when I read that David admitted they used to fight constantly. He said it was just because they were around each other so much, it bred contempt – not that Gillian was the problem, just that they couldn’t stand each other’s sight! It’s so weird to think about, considering the chemistry between Mulder and Scully was everything! But get this – they had lunch in May 2021, and a photo went viral! David was so amused, saying Gillian suggested the picture and he couldn’t believe how much attention it got. He doesn’t really follow that kind of stuff, but it’s amazing to him that people still care about them together after all this time. Honestly, I’m still reeling! They were perfect for each other, even if they drove each other crazy behind the scenes!

Okay, so listen, I know everyone ships Scarlett and Chris – and for good reason! They’ve been in eight movies together since way back in 2004 with The Perfect Score, but apparently nothing’s ever happened outside of the MCU. Still, they just have this connection, you can feel it! Scarlett actually talked about it with Entertainment Weekly a while ago, and she said it’s from years of knowing each other – like, a real intimacy comes from just spending so much time with someone and really knowing them, seeing their vulnerable side. It’s not just acting, I swear! They just get each other, and it shows. I’m telling you, there’s something there!
