As a huge cinema fan, I’ve been so excited about Mahershala Ali taking on the role of Blade, and some new fan art really captures why he’s going to be perfect. It reminds me so much of the incredible fight choreography and character work Quentin Tarantino is known for – it feels like a natural fit for the MCU. We’ve known he was cast as the vampire hunter Eric Brooks since 2019, but it’s been a long wait to actually see him in action! We’ve only gotten little hints – his voice warning Kit Harington’s character in Eternals, and glimpses of alternate versions in Deadpool & Wolverine and Marvel Zombies. Honestly, the road to getting this Blade reboot made has been a bit bumpy, but this art really reinforces my confidence that it’ll be worth the wait.

Fans are eager to see Mahershala Ali as Blade in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and artists are creating their own versions of the character. One artist, @arifinity_ on Instagram, has shared artwork depicting Blade in a style inspired by Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair. This extended version of Kill Bill, combining the first two volumes and set for release on December 5, 2025, will feature Uma Thurman reprising her role as a highly skilled assassin. Some fans believe this character’s abilities could be a good model for how Blade might be portrayed in the MCU.

Why Mahershala Ali’s Blade Should Copy Uma Thurman’s Bride in the MCU

Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill films are famous for their distinctive style and creative fight scenes, cementing their place as iconic action movies. As Marvel Studios begins work on its Blade reboot for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it would be smart to take inspiration from Kill Bill, particularly in how the character of Blade is developed. Kill Bill centered on a deeply personal story of revenge, following The Bride as she hunted down those who attacked her and her unborn child. Giving Blade a similar, emotionally driven story could make the reboot even more compelling.

It’s still unclear what to expect from the upcoming Blade movie in terms of its genre, style, and action. Given recent criticism of Marvel films, it would be smart for the studio to give Blade a distinctive feel, and the director will be key to achieving that. Two directors, Bassam Tariq and Yann Demange, have already left the project, so Marvel is now searching for a third – and hopefully permanent – director. While Quentin Tarantino, known for Kill Bill, would be an unexpected but fantastic choice, it’s highly improbable.

The action scenes in the upcoming Blade movie are expected to be as impactful and exciting as those in Kill Bill. Since Blade is a unique vampire-human hybrid dedicated to eliminating vampires, the film will feature numerous fast-paced, brutal, and intense fights. Like the Bride in Kill Bill, Blade is incredibly skilled in martial arts, sword fighting, shooting, and hand-to-hand combat. It would be fantastic if the filmmakers drew inspiration from Uma Thurman’s iconic moves and incorporated them into the fight choreography for Ali’s version of the Daywalker in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
