With the Multiverse Saga nearing its end, Marvel is building towards massive team-ups in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. So far, 27 actors have been confirmed for Doomsday, and many are expected to be back for Secret Wars, where heroes from different universes will face off against Doctor Doom. Fans are excited about these films and are eager to find out who else might join the cast. Marvel’s Kevin Feige hinted at more announcements after revealing the initial Doomsday cast, but those haven’t come yet, even though filming for Doomsday is finished. While fans continue to guess what’s next, a longtime Marvel actor has suggested they’ll be returning soon.
Paul Bettany, who plays Vision in the Marvel films, recently told The Telegraph he’ll be returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He also mentioned working on a Tom Ford film with Adele and hinted at future Avengers commitments next year, potentially for the Secret Wars movie.
Paul Bettany Will Be Busy With Marvel Next Year

Although Bettany didn’t mention Secret Wars by name, it’s likely that’s the project he was talking about. Anthony Mackie previously stated that filming for Secret Wars will begin in summer 2026, quite a while before the movie comes out in December 2027. If Bettany has commitments for Avengersrelated work next year, it suggests Vision will return to fight with the heroes. Secret Wars is currently the only Marvel movie scheduled for 2027, meaning that’s likely where we’ll see him, unless he does some additional filming for Doomsday* later on.
Marvel fans can expect to see Paul Bettany playing Vision quite a bit over the next few years. He’s starring in a new Disney+ series called VisionQuest, which is scheduled to premiere sometime in 2026. While details about the plot are still secret, Bettany has hinted that the show will explore difficult themes like inherited trauma and facing difficult truths, promising a deeply emotional story for his character. VisionQuest is designed to be a satisfying continuation of the storylines from WandaVision, but it could also lead to Vision playing a key role in a future conflict against Doctor Doom. This journey of self-discovery could give Vision a renewed sense of purpose, and his power would be a major advantage against such a formidable villain.
It’s possible Paul Bettany was simply referring to Marvel overall when he mentioned “Avengers,” rather than a specific Avengers movie or show. The VisionQuest series isn’t expected to be released until late 2026, leaving plenty of time for additional work, even though filming wrapped up this summer. However, until Marvel confirms otherwise, it seems more likely he was talking about Secret Wars. While the cast hasn’t been officially announced for that film, many Marvel Cinematic Universe actors have suggested they’ll be involved in the final chapter of the Multiverse Saga.
It’s possible that Vision’s time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is coming to an end. Marvel plans to refresh the franchise after Secret Wars, focusing on the upcoming X-Men reboot and other new projects. With this shift, some characters’ stories will likely conclude, and Vision’s feels like a likely candidate for a final chapter. While it’s not certain he’ll die, finding a natural place for him in the MCU’s future after Secret Wars is difficult. After everything his character has been through, a meaningful farewell might be what’s next.
