Even after all this time, life isn’t any easier for the Wilkerson family—and fans wouldn’t want it any other way! Almost twenty years after the original series ended, the cast of Malcolm in the Middle, including Frankie Muniz, Bryan Cranston, and Jane Kaczmarek, are reuniting for a new Hulu revival called Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair.
Muniz shared with TopMob News that it was amazing to reconnect with everyone and feel like no time had passed at all. He said they all had plenty of stories to share, but still felt incredibly close, like one big family.
Everyone involved could connect with the feeling of celebrating this opportunity and anticipating the satisfaction of finishing it, as Bryan Cranston shared with TopMob alongside his co-star Janine Kaczmarek. Notably absent from the four-episode revival is Erik Per Sullivan, who played Dewey. He’s currently focused on other commitments, including pursuing a master’s degree in Victorian literature.
Despite Cranston’s attempts to persuade him, the actor said the conversation went well. “I asked him if he was sure he didn’t want to be involved,” he recalled. “He reassured me he was happy for us and excited to see the project.” He explained that the other actor had simply moved on and everything was amicable.

Kaczmarek mentioned he rejected a lot of money, and Muniz praised him for staying true to himself, telling TopMob she admires anyone with that level of self-awareness. As for the show’s revival, it’s still connected to Dewey; newcomer Caleb Ellsworth-Clark has taken on the role, but Muniz believes viewers might not even realize the change.

He believes audiences will immediately recognize the new actor as Dewey. Caleb seamlessly embodies the character, recreating the qualities viewers already loved about Dewey and the show, making it feel like the same person.
