Malcom-Jamal Warner‘s family is honoring his memory in a special way.
For the first time since his death in July, at 54 following a drowning incident in Costa Rica’s waters, Tenisha Warner – wife of the late ‘Cosby Show’ actor – has publicly shared her thoughts. In a heartfelt social media post, she announced that she and their unnamed daughter are establishing a family foundation and introducing River & Ember, an organization aiming to strengthen families as its partner entity. This resource is designed to facilitate family bonding.
The doctor of psychology shared the news along with an update on her family’s healing through their grief.
She expressed gratitude for the profound love they’ve been enveloped in during this delicate period, as she posted on Instagram on September 12, accompanied by a picture from their 2017 wedding. Tomorrow marks their anniversary, and her heart is full. For the first time, she’s offering a peek into the love that ignited it all. The sound of her husband’s laughter still echoes in her ears, and she can still feel how he made space for every aspect of her – every tear, every dream.
Originally staying away from the limelight alongside their 8-year-old child, Tenisha has chosen to step into the public arena to reveal their plans for preserving Malcolm-Jamal‘s memory. Expressing, “In his memory, my daughter and I are now introducing River & Ember and officially unveiling The Warner Family Foundation.
To her, it means carrying on the actor’s passion for family and uplifting children.
She went on, “Joined together, we uphold the tradition my spouse and I initiated – one that fosters the innate brilliance in children and allows budding artists the liberty to express themselves beyond the boundaries of conventional lines.
She added, “This is love, still moving. Still making. Still carrying us forward.”

In a further important point, Tenisha highlighted her husband’s generously kind nature which was instrumental in establishing the foundation.
She wrote that her husband strongly valued nurturing not just the inner goodness in children, but also within us adults. This piece of work carries on his legacy, reflecting the essence he represented.
Eventually, Tenisha feels confident that his influence will bring about a long-lasting, beneficial effect on many people in the future.
In an effort to pass on the same treasured gifts, she intends to share tales and traditions: a feeling of security, and a gentle nudge to cherish our inner glow, despite life’s constant transformations. To the flowing water that sustained us, to the eternal flame that burns brightly, your love has been the timeless narrative I have always wished to continually retell.
