The medical drama Malpractice, created by former doctor Grace Ofori-Attah and airing for two seasons on ITV, won’t be returning for a third season. This confirmation came after the second season finished airing earlier this year.
Despite good viewership numbers for the latest episodes this year, ITV has decided not to renew the drama for a third season. The show previously starred Niamh Algar in season one and Tom Hughes in season two.
ITV said they are proud of the two seasons of Malpractice and thankful for all the support the show received.
Deciding whether to continue a show is complex, and while we won’t be making a third season, we want to thank Grace Ofori-Attah and everyone at World Productions for creating two fantastic series.

Malpractice was a suspenseful drama that focused on serious mistakes made by the main doctors each season. As a mystery developed, their professional ethics came under scrutiny.
Most of the actors changed between the first and second seasons, but Jordan Kouamé and Helen Behan reprised their roles as Dr. George Brewin and Dr. Norma Callahan, leading the investigations in the new season.
She mentioned she has plenty of ideas for a third season. If ITV decides to commission more episodes, she’s happy to develop storylines for them.
I’d really like to see Norma and George become regular, beloved fixtures on UK television – I think they’d be fantastic returning characters.
