As the cast for Man of Tomorrow continues to grow, fans are speculating about which character the latest actor will portray in the DC Universe.
Production is underway on DC Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures’ next Superman movie, written and directed by James Gunn. David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult will return as Superman/Clark Kent and Lex Luthor, continuing the story from the 2025 film.
Who might Andre Royo be playing in Man of Tomorrow?
Actor Andre Royo, famous for his role as Reginald “Bubbles” Cousins, is now part of the cast of Man of Tomorrow. He’s worked with the film’s director, James Gunn, before, appearing in Gunn’s 2010 movie Super as a character named Hamilton.
We still don’t know which character Royo will play in ‘Man of Tomorrow,’ but that hasn’t stopped fans from making predictions. While nothing has been confirmed, here are our top four theories about his role in the DC Universe.
Martian Manhunter
Introducing Martian Manhunter would be a truly ambitious move. Many fans anticipate his appearance in the DC Universe eventually—James Gunn has even shared pictures of DCU sets including Chocos, his preferred snack—and it’s possible actor Royo could play him in “Man of Tomorrow.” Only time will tell if this happens, but it’s definitely within the realm of possibility.
Silas Stone
Silas Stone might be a better choice for a role, especially considering DC’s likely preference for a well-known actor for Martian Manhunter. Introducing Silas in a film like ‘Man of Tomorrow’ would also naturally lead into the introduction of his son, Cyborg, within the new DC Universe. Plus, Silas is the one who built Titans Tower, which could hint at future projects involving the Teen Titans.
Professor Hamilton
Emil Hamilton is a recurring character in Superman comics, often portrayed as either an ally or an enemy. As a brilliant scientist, he creates technology that can be used to help or harm Superman. He’s particularly important in the Brainiac 13 story arc, and with Brainiac set to appear in ‘Man of Tomorrow,’ his role is likely to be significant.
Brainiac’s henchman
It’s possible we’re reading too much into David Corenswet’s casting. Sometimes actors are announced for roles that end up being relatively small, like with Terence Rosemore in a previous Superman film. Rosemore’s casting was publicized early on, leading fans to expect a significant part, but he mostly ended up as a supporting character. Perhaps Royo simply had availability and a desire to work with James Gunn again, even for a smaller role. Either way, it will still be exciting to see him appear in the movie, no matter who he plays.
