With the Server Slam event happening this week, time is running out to experience Bungie’s Marathon. The developers have been sharing trailers showing off gameplay – from quick sprints to full runs, including escaping the level – and now they’ve released a new cinematic focusing on the Rook Runner Shell. The Rook is a character who prefers to gather resources and supplies rather than fight head-on.
Okay, so the trailer showed this crazy scene after a fight – wreckage and pieces of a squad floating in the water. Then, these enemy robots show up, and our guy, the Rook, just drops down and starts scavenging through the debris. But get this – one of the wrecked bots, a Destroyer, was still alive! The Rook had to blast it, which of course, alerted the other robots. It looks like our guy had to bail, maybe to come back and loot again later.
Look, you don’t have to play the Rook like I do, but honestly, it’s amazing. The best part is blending in with the enemy – it lets me slip past other players without them even knowing I’m there. You could totally just focus on grabbing loot and then bail out, letting other players do what they want. But for me, the whole point of playing the Rook is dropping in, getting what I need, and getting out without losing a single item. It’s all about risk-free looting!
Marathon will be available on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC starting March 5th. You can get a first taste of the game with the ‘Server Slam’ test period, running from February 26th to March 2nd. While you wait, be sure to watch the cinematic trailers for the Destroyer and Thief classes!
