Bungie recently released a big update for Marathon, and while most changes were well-received, the increased range of gunfire sounds proved controversial. Players found it was a bit too easy to hear opponents, leading to chaotic situations where they’d be attacked by one player, only to then be attacked by another while already fighting. This was especially problematic given the game’s challenging enemies.
Bungie acknowledged players’ concerns about a recent change to in-game audio and agrees it went too far. They’re planning an update to restore clear communication without overly extending the range. In the meantime, this week’s update will increase how much ammo, salvage, and grenades you can store in the Vault. Specifically, Volt ammo, healing items, and shields will now stack up to 30.
The developer is planning future enhancements for players with powerful computers, but these won’t be released all at once. They haven’t revealed the order these improvements will arrive in, so keep an eye out for more information.
